Avoid the construction! If you park on 101 Ave, you can skip the front sidewalks entirely and walk right through our back alley entrance! Just ring the doorbell.

♿ No Stairs? No Problem: Our back door is completely stair-free and fully accessible. Anyone who needs or prefers an entrance with zero stairs is welcome to use the back door any day of the week—construction or not!

Pip the stroopwafel woke up on the bottom shelf of the Dutch Roots store downtown, nestled between a box of hagelslag and a jar of sweet Appelstroop. The air in the store was rich with the scent of fresh Douwe Egberts Coffee, and Pip knew exactly where he needed to go.

The Journey Across the Aisles

Pip gave a firm wiggle, slid out of his package, and dropped softly onto the linoleum floor. He began to roll, navigating a maze of familiar packages.
He zoomed past a towering display of Haribo Gummy Bears and carefully skirted around a box of chocolate-covered Lebkuchen.

He rolled beneath shelves lined with Speculaas cookies and jars of tangy German sauerkraut.

The Sticky Detours

As Pip rounded the corner near a breakfast display, he didn't see the condensation pooling on the floor. Smack! He rolled straight into a chilled glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice that a worker had left on a low stool.
The glass wobbled, splashing a few cold, acidic drops onto Pip's cinnamon-spiced edge. Pip shivered—citrus and caramel were not a good mix.
He quickly threw himself onto a shelf filled with traditional Dutch tea towels, rolling back and forth on the woven blue-and-white fabric until his waffle exterior was perfectly dry and crisp again.
Stepping back onto the floor, Pip picked up speed, but he didn't notice a nearby sampling station. Thud! He collided right into the base of a jar of Calvé pindakaas (creamy Dutch peanut butter). A dollop of thick, nutty peanut butter scraped onto his top grid. Pip blinked, tasting it—actually, peanut butter and caramel wasn't half bad! Still, he had a mission to complete.

The Stinky Blockade

Hurrying toward the checkout counter, Pip's cinnamon-and-peanut aroma was suddenly overpowered by a massive wave of funk. Before he could stop his momentum, he plowed straight into a wedge of aged, pungent German Limburger cheese sitting on the deli counter's return tray.
Oof! Pip bounced off the sticky rind. The wedge of Limburger cheese pinched its eyes shut and twisted its soft yellow rind into a face of absolute disgust, deeply offended by Pip’s sweet caramel and peanut butter aroma. "Zu süß! Too sweet!" the funky cheese seemed to scoff, wrinkling its pungent surface.
Pip held his breath, horrified that his identity would be ruined by the aroma of old socks. He did a quick spin across a clean corner of the counter to shake off any lingering funk, desperately hoping the hot coffee ahead would mask the scent.

The Counter Climb
Shaken, sticky, and slightly dazed by the cheese's sour expression, Pip finally made it to the main wooden checkout counter. He used a sturdy, brightly wrapped stack of chunky Tony's Chocolonely bars like a staircase to climb to the very top.

The Perfect Match

There, sitting right next to the cash register, was the shopkeeper’s steaming mug of dark coffee.
Pip rolled to the edge of the ceramic rim and slid himself across the top, resting perfectly in place. As the warm steam rose, his stiff caramel center—now carrying a hint of peanut butter and completely rescued from the stinky cheese—began to melt into a gooey, warm blend. The rich coffee aroma swallowed up the last of the shop's chaotic scents, leaving only the perfect, sweet match.
