Microsoft has removed Teams Events from Teams Premium. If you bought it for events, your renewal will be a downgrade.
This week, MC1479512 was made available worldwide. The Teams Events features are now divided into two categories:
1. The Foundational category includes the Business, Frontline and student Education plans.
2. The Advanced category requires Teams Enterprise, that is, Office 365 E1, E3, E5 or Microsoft 365 E3, E5, E7.
The new Teams Premium licence sits in neither category. Most event features moved to Teams Enterprise in April, so the Premium licence you buy today includes none of them. If you bought before 1 April, you're covered until your term ends. The change takes effect at renewal, not rollout.
Capacity has changed: Foundational plans allow 1,000 registered attendees, Advanced plans 3,000. For more, you'll need an Attendee Capacity Pack (5,000-100,000, one per organizer).
The key question is whether the people organizing your all-hands and customer webinars have the right licence, and whether anyone has checked the size of the events already scheduled for Q1.
Two buckets, one expiry date, and no warning at the door.

Microsoft is about to offer 50% off Copilot. You need to commit to 10,000 seats to qualify.
Per The Information, Microsoft told its sales teams this week that enterprise discounts start as early as October. Roughly 30% for commitments over 1,000 seats. Up to 50% over 10,000. None of it is published on Microsoft's own price list.
👉Two things worth noticing before anyone gets excited.
1. The 30% tier isn't new. Microsoft has been running a 30% discount for 1,000 to 9,999 seat buys, and that offer expires September 30th. (What's actually new is the 50% tier, and the ceiling it puts on the conversation. The only lever that moves your number is buying more of a product your people may not have opened yet.)
2. The second thing sits underneath the discount. Microsoft's own spokesperson confirmed the model is expanding to combine seat subscriptions with usage-based revenue. Some features in the new Copilot app carry consumption charges on top of the seat price. You get a discount on the line item you can forecast. You pick up a line item you can't.
Under 1,000 seats, none of this reaches you anyway. Your base M365 licenses still went up on July 1st.
Cheaper seats. Metered features. Same invoice trajectory.
If your renewal lands this October, the number that protects you isn't the discount Microsoft offers. It's how many of your seats anyone is actually using: https://hubs.li/Q04ycSBK0
Microsoft is moving fast from selling seat licenses to aggressive consumption billing. That means enterprises are already being billed for actual consumption and real-time usage metering.
And this isn't just a Microsoft thing. The same push comes from many vendors. Everybody is pushing AI into their products and platforms, and the vendors are all trying to monetize it through token usage or consumption-based usage.

Software audits are going up this year. That part isn’t changing.
The real steps we follow when an audit hits:
• One single point of contact — always
• No raw data handed over, ever
• Scope, timelines, and metrics challenged early
• Your own ELP built before you react to theirs
• Everything documented so nothing “drifts” mid-audit
When you do this properly, audits stop being panic events.
Use our Software Audit guide to prepare. https://hubs.ly/Q04x-64L0
This is the slow motion for what's already happening to your invoice. Microsoft doesn't need to raise the sticker price. It just needs you reaching for the next tier yourself.
Three moves are doing the reaching for you right now, and none of them care how big your company is.
1. GitHub Copilot cut its usage credits by roughly 40% for Business and Enterprise seats this month. Same price per seat. Less included in it.
2. Power BI's newest AI capabilities work fully only behind a Copilot Premium add-on. Not a new product. A gate bolted onto the one you already pay for.
3. Starting October 1st, every CSP subscription costs 5% more if you pay monthly instead of annually. Not an enterprise clause. Microsoft's most common buying path, the one small and mid-size companies actually use.
A ten-person shop on a monthly CSP plan feels all three the same as a company running a global enterprise agreement. No EA required. No seat minimum. Just an invoice that only moves one direction.
Smaller credits. New gates. Tighter terms. Same grabby hands.

Uncontrolled Microsoft growth rarely looks dramatic month to month. It becomes very obvious after budgets are locked and leverage is gone.
The teams that stay in control don’t react — they model multiple scenarios early and choose their outcome.
