Every day one Nova Scotian dies from a disease that is 90% preventable. That disease is colorectal cancer. We’re on a mission to prevent this silent killer through Get Up There, a public awareness movement, fundraiser and event.

Over the past 16 years, GUT has raised funds and awareness for colorectal cancer screening and prevention. Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve helped the Dartmouth General Hospital open a 3rd Endoscopy Suite exclusively for screening FIT-positive patients, reducing the waitlist for this critical testing. 💙
This year, we’re back and ready to make an even bigger impact. Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, or just hiking up and down get ready to hit the slopes for a great cause. 🎿❄️💩

Did you know? Most Nova Scotians who get colon cancer don't have a family history or early symptoms. Don't wait for symptoms to appear. If you have no symptoms and no family history, now is the time to take the test!

Curious about the F***l Immunochemical Test (FIT)? This easy, at-home screening can detect tiny amounts of blood in your stool. No need to change your diet! Just:
1️⃣ Use the kit to collect a small stool sample.
2️⃣ Mail it to the lab for testing.
3️⃣ Get your results by mail.
It's that simple!

Screening prevents cancer and saves lives. The Colon Cancer Prevention Program mails home screening kits to all Nova Scotians aged 50 to 74 with the goal of preventing cancer or finding it early when treatment is most effective.
We are proud to partner with the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation and Health Nova Scotia raise awareness for the Colon Prevention Program.
