Back in 2008, the Medium Mood (my band with Adam Hartling and Andrew Gordon Macpherson | Film/TV/Games Composer) were filmed as part of the 6015 Willow project alongside a bunch of incredible bands. The film documented a good chunk of the thriving Halifax scene at the time in the Burn to Shine style (“20 bands, 3 days, 1 house”) and our band was thrilled to be a part of it — I think it was the last performance we ever did after 3 years of touring and releasing records. I listened to our only full length (New Alarm) for the first time in 15 years this week and it was a crazy experience; kind of like time travelling in a way…nascent visions of “the road”, message board approval, American Apparel hoodies and dreams of rare colourway Onitsuka Tigers in Montreal sneaker shops.
The good people of JUNKYARD are screening the documentary for the first time in a very long time on Friday, September 4th, at Bearly's House Of Blues. Kestrels are performing after the screening alongside Diamondtown, Pavel Stroke, and scottmnicks. Tickets are sold out. It’s going to be a great night and a cool full circle moment.

LP6 update. Week-ish one with a look into an unearthed song recorded at Electrical Audio (with some footage from studio B), a Lars Ulrich quotation, studio news, and footage from The Drum Room for some upcoming covers.

I played a solo set on Saturday for the first time in a few years. Super fun night! I opened with “The Moon is Shining Our Way” from our 2014 EP. I think we need to bring that one back for our live shows…
It was fun playing the Better Wonder stuff solo for the first time. I played with my electric rig and stuff like “Dream of You in Black” translated really well with the wild flanging sounds. A great night in a new DIY venue! Thanks to for the rad pics!
