Healing the shame that you carry from the past allows you to unlock an authentic version of yourself that feels more free and able to build a life aligned with your true self. It’s painful work, but it’s worthwhile.

Do that work. Let us see your light ✨

For a variety of reasons, we often become our own worst enemy. For some, this was modeled, for others it came through internalized criticisms from others, it felt like the only way to create change, to feel some sense of control of safety.

But self abuse is not actually the best path to self actualization. It often creates more negative emotion and interrupts our ex*****on.

The hard part is, that voice is not easy to change. We often need to do deep emotional work to shift our feelings and the self care will follow. When you learn to live a life driven by self care and belief, the ability to be violently kind to yourself will follow 🖤

You can never undo what you’ve gone through. You will always live a changed person because of your painful experiences. But you can choose what direction you continue to grow in, and you can outgrow the version of yourself who had to endure it all.

Use your pain to become someone you never knew you could be ❤️‍🔥

Our experiences in life shape how we feel about ourselves. Often, those experiences, inputs, cultures, ideals, standards, expectations, or harms, left us with feelings of deficiencies.

But if we live out those narratives, we will give up on ourselves early, mistreat our bodies, and cope instead of care.

Healing happens through feeling the pain of our shame, connecting to its source, and replacing it with radical self-love.

Find a path back to yourself 🖤

Mental health has become strangely individual.

When someone is struggling, we tell them to take a leave, work on themselves, get help, and come back when they’re fixed.

But suffering doesn’t work that way.

A parent’s depression impacts a family.
A child’s anxiety changes a home.
A burned-out employee affects a team.

Humans are not isolated units. We are interconnected systems.

That’s why at eFIT, healing happens in community. Through trauma-informed care, group therapy, somatic healing, nervous system regulation, movement, nourishment, and connection, we create the conditions where shame loses its grip, we care and see one another fully, and authentic healing becomes possible.

Maybe the most radical idea in modern mental health is that you were never supposed to do this alone.

Join the Evolve Therapy Program and experience the power of healing together.

Shout out to our kickass community 🖤

Coach Mike Be Cookin 🔪🥘

It came up in our nutrition program that meal prepping is annoying and challenging. So, Coach Mike (Chef Mike) stepped up to offer our members themed meal prep classes to learn more, get in some practice, and build confidence 🫶

Don’t know how many delicious things you can make with one rotisserie chicken!? 🍗 So helpful.

Nutrition is basic and complex at the same time. There are deeper layers that are important to explore. That’s what we help with 😊

Hot take: your body probably does not need another productivity app, supplement stack, or morning routine.

It probably needs sleep.
Food.
Movement.
Regulation.
And for you to finally stop avoiding your emotions.

We’ve normalized living completely disconnected from ourselves and then wonder why anxiety, burnout, emotional eating, dissociation, and depression are exploding.

You aren’t struggling with low will power, you are not broken, your nervous system is overloaded.

At eFIT, we help people stop heal and optimize through an integrated program that includes psychotherapy, somatic practice, emotional processing, nervous system regulation, movement, nutrition support, and community. The membership is eligible for benefit plans.

Come check out the Evolve Therapy Program. Your body has been asking for this.

Unprocessed pain will control your life if you don’t address it. It shapes your relationships, your choices, your identity, and the life you build around it.

At eFIT Institute in Hamilton, Ontario, Dr. Katherine Gardhouse and the integrated team help individuals process trauma, shame, fear, and emotional pain so they can reconnect with their authentic selves and build lives grounded in meaning instead of coping and survival.

Problematic p**n use usually isn’t about s*x. It’s about trying to meet an unmet need—lack of connection, loneliness, lack of meaning or purpose, to quell shame, stress, anxiety. The problem is, the behaviour will never solve the unmet need. Nor will behavioural strategies many therapies try to implement. Instead, we need to address that need head on.

Dr. Joshua Weiss and Dr. Katherine Gardhouse are working to create spaces where men can start to address the deeper pains that drive unhelpful behaviours.

Life Medicine runs OHIP-covered men’s groups for men ages 18–75 on weekday evenings in Toronto.

eFIT Institute offers mental health support in Hamilton and virtually across Ontario. DM to learn more.

The constant pressure to be more, do more, be perfect is an attempt to outrun the feeling of inadequacy that haunts you. But there is no way to outrun shame. It will always be waiting, lurking, ready for you to falter in some way.

Real freedom comes when you stop chasing enough and start living your life guided by what is right for you, not what will complete you.

That’s an important part of the work we do in the Evolve Therapy Program. Reach out to learn more.
