Your pain is real — But it might be your body setting off a false alarm. Pain reprocessing therapy doesn’t try to ignore pain. Instead, it does what it can to retrain your brains alarm system to realize that it is safe. |

As the temperature drops and the leaves start to change, nature provides us with a natural reminder to slow down. While it may be appealing to maintain your high-energy summer pace all year long, that’s simply unattainable. Transitioning your energy inward is necessary, and your body will thank you for it. |

This is one of our most frequently asked questions. While cost can vary significantly, it can be helpful to understand the factors contributing to that variance. If you’d like to learn more about psychedelic-assisted therapy in Hamilton, you can visit our website at www.accesstherapy.ca. |
Setting is part of the therapy. 🌿
When we talk about “setting” in psychedelic-assisted therapy, we’re talking about much more than making a room look nice.
Soft lighting. Natural light. Comfortable furniture. Pillows and blankets. A space that feels warm and intentionally non-clinical. Clear, accessible exits so you always know where you are and how to move through the space.
These details matter.
During a psychedelic experience, we can become more sensitive to our surroundings. The environment can influence how supported, comfortable, and oriented we feel as the experience unfolds.
We want the space itself to communicate: you can settle here. You have choices. You are supported.
And setting is more than the room—it’s also the people in it, the preparation beforehand, and the trust that has been built.
We can’t control where an experience will take you. But we can be deeply intentional about the environment in which you meet it.

It can be easy to beat ourselves up over normal, human emotions. This post is here to remind you that you’re doing incredible. Not every day can be perfect, and healing is not a linear process. You’ve got this, and we’re here to support you along the way. |
Before we go inward, we orient to what’s here. 🌿
Look around the room. Let your eyes get curious.
Notice what’s beside you. Behind you. Above you.
Feel your breath. Notice the support underneath your body. Take in the space around you and the ways you’re held and cocooned within it.
**You are here, now.**
If you can... do it slowly, let it take 5-10 minutes.
This kind of orienting practice is one of the ways we begin our work in psychedelic-assisted therapy.
Before exploring what might emerge through the medicine, we want to help clients connect with the present moment—and begin noticing the **seeds of safety that already exist within them and around them.**
Safety doesn’t necessarily mean the absence of discomfort. It can be the growing capacity to notice: *I’m here. I can breathe. I can orient. I can find something steady.*
These practices may seem simple, but they can become important anchors to return to throughout the PAT process.
Start with the room.
Start with the breath.
Start with here.
Set and setting matter. A lot. 🌿
In psychedelic-assisted therapy, the medicine is only one part of the experience.
Set is what you bring with you—your mindset, emotions, expectations, fears, intentions, and everything happening in your life at that moment.
Setting is what surrounds you—not only the physical environment, but the people in it.
Do you feel safe? Do you trust the people supporting you? Can they remain grounded when the experience becomes uncertain, emotional, or difficult?
Creating a thoughtful set and setting isn’t about guaranteeing a “good trip” or controlling what happens.
It’s about creating the conditions for you to meet what arises with openness, safety, and support.
Because when our usual ways of orienting ourselves soften, who and what surrounds us matters.
The medicine matters. The context does too.
