A Studio L14 Annex Event

In the early hours of May 2nd, we learned that our beloved Studio L14 had been ravaged by fire.

The music stopped. Operations stopped. And suddenly, a space that had brought so many of us together, artists, dancers, DJs, friends, chosen family and community, was no longer there for us to gather in.

The months since have been difficult. We miss the room. We miss the crew. We miss all of you.

But the music isn’t finished. 💫

On Saturday, September 19, we’re coming back together for ELECTRIC EQUINOX, a Studio L14 Annex event and fundraiser celebrating the community that made L14 what it was — and the future we are all working toward together.

We couldn’t be happier to welcome Cozmic Cat back into our orbit.

Toronto-based DJ, producer and cultural connector Cozmic Cat brings an infectious, high-energy blend of House, funk, disco, Latin, pop, soul and Tech House to dance floors around the world. A Black, q***r artist and longtime champion of inclusive nightlife, her work is rooted in love, unity, diversity and JOY — creating space for community, connection and celebration.

In her universe, music is a way of bringing people together.

This is a fundraiser for Studio L14. All proceeds and profits will go toward the Studio L14 Rebuilding Fund, helping cover ongoing costs including storage for the equipment they were fortunate enough to save from the fire.

Come dance with us. Come reconnect with the people you’ve missed. Come support L14’s residents, crew and community.

The building may have gone quiet, but the community never did.

The music comes back on September 19. ⚡️

L14 Update:

After discussions with the landlord at the Dream Center, we were informed that all units must be completely cleared out so the building can undergo a full cleaning process.

Over the past 3 weeks, we’ve been tearing everything out of the studio, and the space is finally almost empty.

After 9 years in that room, every light, wire, piece of sound equipment, and all of our belongings had to be removed from the unit.

Unfortunately, this also means the process ahead could take quite a bit of time. Once we’re eventually given the green light to return, we’ll essentially have to rebuild the entire studio from the ground up.

At this point, we still don’t know when that will be.

This isn’t the update we hoped to share, but we promise to continue keeping everyone informed as things progress.

For now, we just want to say thank you. We love and appreciate every single person who supported our little rave cave here in Hamilton over the past 9 years.

In the meantime, we’re working hard to secure another space so we can continue hosting the staple events you know and love. It’s proven to be a little more difficult than expected, but we’re not giving up.

We’ll keep pushing forward as we always do. 🖤

We have an unfortunate update to share.

All events at Studio L14 are cancelled until further notice.

When power was restored in the building today, the HVAC system circulated residual smoke and fire debris into the units.

While Studio L14 itself was not directly affected in the same way, the building as a whole now requires remediation.

As a result, the entire building (including the duct systems) will need to undergo a thorough professional cleaning. This process is expected to take some time.

We know this isn’t the news anyone was hoping for, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding.

For now, we’ll be holding onto the studio and remain hopeful that we’ll be able to reopen as soon as it’s safe to do so.

We’ll continue to share updates as we learn more.

An early-morning fire in Hamilton has forced the temporary closure of the Hamilton Dream Center, a vital community hub providing meals, outreach, and support services.
