Sweet Jake's songs stay true to what drives him musically - a back-to-basics approach, unique progressions, and a smoky voice singing lyrics that are likely to resonate with everyone at some point in their lives. His straight-to-the-point songwriting features a back-to-basics approach and lyrics about love, career frustrations, and knowing (or not) what you want in life.
“Drivin” is the first official Sweet Jake release (Jan 2021). The plot weighs on the turmoil felt during a breakup forced by the move from a sprawling farmhouse in the middle of nowhere to a microscopic big-city apartment. Produced superbly by Andrew Billone, the song is “driven” by the John Mayer-esque chord changes played on Jake’s beloved Martin 000 guitar. It also features the swooping melodies from steel-string charmer and dear friend, Dan Gurman. The songs combine Sweet Jake’s love for artists like John Mayer, Ewan Currie, the entire discography of The Tragically Hip, and much, much more.
