Important update for Canada Day - it's expected to be a hot one. Please take precautions to weather the heat safely, and keep an eye out for older folks, animals, and people in need who may need assistance with cool down or drinking water. A little care goes a long way!

On Canada Day (July 1), all recreation centres and programs will be closed, with a few exceptions as we continue to support residents during the active heat warning.

Outdoor pools will be open for free public swims (Victoria Park Pool remains closed). Kanétskare Recreation Centre will operate 10:30am–7pm for free swims and as a cooling location.

Cooling locations will also be open 11am–7pm at Bennetto Community Centre, Norman Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre and Sir Wilfrid Laurier Recreation Centre.

Regular programming and cooling location hours resume July 2. More info: Hamilton.ca/heat
