General Information

Admission

Parents wishing to enrol their child in Lee Academy are asked to complete an application form and return it to the school along with a copy of a past report card (if applicable). Upon receipt of an application form, an interview and assessment will be scheduled with the teacher and director. Admission to Lee Academy is based on the interview and assessment as well as space availability. For more information on the enrolment process and tuition fees please follow the links or click on the menu on the left side of the page. Uniforms

All students are required to wear the school uniform. We want the children to develop a sense of pride in their school as well as themselves. Transportation
Lee Academy operates a bus programme to accommodate our principal geographical draw areas. Information on the programme and its fees is provided on request. There are no transportation fees for those parents who choose to provide their own transportation for their children. Vacations

School holidays generally coincide with public school holidays. They usually occur at the following times during the school year: two weeks at Christmas and two weeks in March, beginning the second week of March. The school is closed on Thanksgiving, Easter Monday, and Victoria Day. A listing of school holidays is available well in advance of the upcoming academic year. The current year's calendar is available on the website (follow the link or click on the menu on the left). Security

No child may leave the property without parental permission. To ensure a safe, comfortable environment at Lee Academy, access to the building during the day is via the main entrance only. Visitors are asked to identify themselves at reception and wear a visitor's tag while in the school. Health

Each child must have a doctor's certificate of good health. A form is supplied upon enrolment and must be completed and provided prior to starting school. All children must be immunized according to the Ontario Ministry of Health regulations. Religion

Lee Academy is nondenominational. Absenteeism

Parents are requested to notify the school if their child is absent on a given day. A note in the child's daily agenda or a phone call from a parent/guardian excuses a student from class. Families wishing to extend their vacations or have their child absent for a long period of time are asked to discuss their plans first with the teacher in charge of their child's programme. Parent Involvement Opportunities

At Lee Academy we believe that it is essential to be involved in and supportive of your child's education. There are many opportunities throughout the year to visit the school, meet the teachers and watch your child perform. Parents are encouraged to accompany us on class trips. We welcome parental suggestions. Parents wishing to observe or help in the classroom are welcome at any time. All regular volunteers must submit a police record check and sign in and out at our front reception.

Well done to all our Lee Academy Kids’ Lit Quiz Teams! We had four teams competing to show their love and knowledge of books today at Hamilton Regionals. They were gracious, welcoming and enthusiastic! We have never seen such a close competition.

Congratulations to John T Tuck Elementary School who will represent Hamilton at the National Finals on Monday. Our “Myth Writers” team placed third, only 2 points from top place!

Thank you to all our volunteers and helpers for making sure the event went so smoothly.

We are accepting applications for exceptional classroom teachers and would give preference to candidates with primary teaching experience or junior/intermediate math and science experience. We also strongly encourage applicants seeking a career where they can truly impact their community in a positive way.

Lee Academy offers a supportive and healthy teaching environment. We encourage applications from teachers with diverse world experiences and backgrounds. Please do not apply if you do not meet the application requirements.

Applicants must have Canadian citizenship or permanent residency and teaching certification from Ontario, Canada or an equivalent. Our school is just west of Hamilton, Ontario. Our Grade Five class did a wonderful job hosting our Remembrance Day ceremony this morning. Our young Wolf Pack choir and Glee Club sang beautifully as well. It was very moving to see all our students speak and sing so eloquently and graciously. Students from both campuses also attended the service at the Lynden Legion.

As part of their “Rocks & Minerals” science unit, the Grade 4s were introduced to basic cost management related to mining, including the cost of the reclamation of minerals by mining for “chocolate chips” in a cookie. Students needed to pay for their core sample (cookie), mining equipment (flat or round toothpicks or small metal paper clip). Each student was given dollar amount per chocolate chip reclaimed. Big decisions were made to decide if their location was economically viable to be mined or not.
