🚨 195 km/h. Heavy traffic. No excuse.🚨
While merging onto Highway 2 southbound from Highway 2A, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at an estimated 150 km/h. As the officer moved to catch up, the vehicle accelerated to 178 km/h, where the speed was confirmed by radar. The vehicle continued to increase speed, reaching a maximum of 195 km/h in heavy traffic.
Excessive speed significantly increases the risk of serious collisions, especially when traffic volumes are high and reaction times are reduced.
The driver was issued:
✅ A summons to court for the speed-related offence
✅ A $243 fine for failing to produce a valid certificate of registration
At speeds like these, there is little room for error and the consequences can be devastating. Speed limits are in place to protect everyone on the road.
🚔 Slow down. Make safe choices. Get home safely.
