🧡 September 30 — National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today is a day to pause, reflect, listen and remember.

It’s a day to honour the children who never came home from residential schools, the survivors, their families and communities, and all those who continue to carry the impact of that history.

Wearing orange is one small way to show that we remember — but reconciliation is about more than wearing a shirt for a day. It’s about listening, learning, understanding the truth and continuing to move forward together.

Today, and every day, we remember. 🧡

Innisfil Fire & Rescue Services is proud to support Saved by the Beep, a province-wide initiative reminding everyone that working smoke and CO alarms save lives.

Today, our Fire Prevention Team will be at the Stroud Tim Hortons (8010 Yonge Street, Stroud) all day, encouraging residents to take a moment to test their alarms at home.

Stop by, say hello, and learn more about fire and life safety. A quick “beep” today could mean being Saved by the Beep tomorrow.

📅 Don’t forget to test your alarms on September 28th!

It’s Council night… and I believe this is our last scheduled meeting with this current Council.

I have to admit, that feels a little strange to say.

Four years ago, I walked into my first Council meeting not really knowing what to expect. Since then, I’ve had the chance to learn so much, meet so many amazing people, and get to know my fellow Councillors and our incredible Town staff.

We’ve had lots of discussions, disagreements, laughs, long meetings (😂), and plenty of moments where we were all just trying to figure out the best way forward for our community.

Tonight feels a little bittersweet knowing that when we sit around that Council table again, there will be some changes. That’s just part of how municipal politics works, but it doesn’t make it any less meaningful to look back at the last four years and appreciate the people I’ve shared this experience with.

I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity to have been part of it. 💙

As always, here’s the link to tonight’s agenda if you’d like to see what’s on the table: https://innisfil.civicweb.net/Portal/MeetingInformation.aspx?Id=1191

And if there’s anything you want to chat about, as always, please reach out. I’m always happy to hear from you.

Community First, Always. 💙
