Another WICKED day on day two of BCBRA finals. Lyra and No Wonder He Shines AKA Wheeler had a smoking 16.8 putting them 9th in the Open 1D and second in the Junior 1D. Unfortunately for me this horse is for sale. He is 9 by our Shining Spark stud and just incredible 😭

Anna and Rajo broke into the 17s with a beautiful 17.7!

Kelcie and Stevie were also a 17.7!

Megan had a great day on her personal horse Charlie with a 17.7! Vegas also shaved off almost a full second with an 18.3. Unfortunately jolene had a fall yesterday. Luckily both her and Jo Jo are ok.

Sydney and Frankie also broke into the 17s with a 17.9!

Nevaya and muffin are getting faster each day with a 18.0!

Jewelle knocked three tenths off her time on delta with an 18.2!

Chae has another great run with an 18.7!

Nadia on chrome got another pesky barrel down but shaved off a lot of time with an 18.6 !

Amelia and button broke into the 18s with an 18.9. Unfortunately tripped knocked third but looking forward to today. Mater had another great run of a 20.0. He is coming along so nicely.

Abi and Loma had another clean run with a 19.0

Zoey and hiccup had a nice run of a 19.3 but unfortunately took a barrel down.

Elin and rajo had another clean run of a 20.3.

Allison and Owen had a little slip up on second but still had a nice clean run of a 20.5

Sophie and Jose had a beautiful run of a 21.6 and unfortunately knocked on trooper with a 17.6.

Carys also had a little seasoning bubble on second but is coming back today for nice clean run.

Maisy and Rosa had a clean run with a 49.3!

Izzy and Eli had a little mishap but did a great job of making him finish it up correctly

Lyra had some tough luck but a smoking run on wheeler with a 17.3 but knocked second.

What an incredible weekend at the CBR & BCFDI Finals at Spring Lake Ranch in 100 Mile.

No service, 12 horses, beautiful views, organized chaos and a team that absolutely showed up.

Megan (15) won the Open 4D Average Saddle on Jolene, won the 1D poles on Charlie with a 21.8, and came back Sunday with an 18.8 on the standard.

Amelia (13) won Saturday’s entire barrel race on Tripp with a 17.6 — the fastest run of the entire day — finished 4th in the Open 1D Average, won the Junior 1D Average and ran a 22.45 in poles.

Sophie & Trooper ran an 18.6 after a tough start Friday.

Jewelle won the Novice 3D Average on Owen and the 3D poles with a 24.1.

Abi won the P*e Wee 3D Average on Loma and finished 2nd in the 1D Pole Bending Average with two clean runs.

Ollie & Chrome laid down a 22.71 in the poles.

Elin & Rayo won the 4D poles with a 24.9.

Nevaya won the Novice 3D on Muffin with a 20.4 and competed in her first Derby Finals.

Chae & Cricket put together an incredible weekend in both barrels and poles.

But honestly, I’m just as proud of what happened outside the arena.

These girls helped each other, cared for each other’s horses, handled nerves and disappointments, figured out schedules with no service and somehow helped us self-pen 12 horses after realizing we left nine panels at home.

Finals come with pressure, but at the end of the day, if you knock one over, it’s just a garbage can. Learn from it, love your horse and go again.

A huge thank you to Sydney Delay, Cary’s, Nevaya and everyone who helped look after my babies so I could coach and keep this circus moving. I couldn’t do it without you.

And I’m pretty proud of myself too. Devon Heck reminded me before my first run: trust your gut, trust your horse and go have fun.

So I did.

Stevie looked after me and we ran an 18.6.

Now we regroup, make a few horse switches and head into the BCBRA Finals this weekend with 23 horses coming off the ranch.

The daddy of them all.

So proud of this team, these horses and everyone who makes this crazy life possible.

What an incredible weekend at the CBR and BCFDI Finals at Spring Lake Ranch in 100 Mile, BC. No service, beautiful views, 12 horses, lots of organized chaos 😂 and a team that absolutely showed up.

Megan is only 15 and spends pretty much every free minute she has at the ranch riding, training and doing whatever needs to be done. She has been working with Jolene, my dad Doug’s 5 year old, and Vegas, my mom Lynette’s 7 year old, both by our stallion Shiney Pl***oy. Both were only started on the barrel pattern earlier this summer and have very minimal competitive runs. She won the Open 4D Average Saddle on Jolene, then won the 1D poles with a 21.8 on her own 6 year old mare Charlie and came back Sunday with an 18.8 on a standard barrel pattern. She has made a true rodeo horse out of that spicy red mare in a very short amount of time.

Amelia blew us away on Tripp, winning the entire barrel race Saturday with a 17.6 on a standard. It was also the fastest run of the entire day across all categories. She finished 4th in the Open 1D Average, won the Junior 1D Average and ran a 22.45 in the poles. At only 13, Amelia spends a minimum of five days a week here, usually from 8 AM to 8 PM, helping with my babies, working in the barn and doing whatever needs to be done. She carries more responsibility than any 13 year old I know.

Sophie and Trooper ran an 18.6 on a standard. After a bridle malfunction Friday caused a no time, Sophie’s first concern was whether Trooper was okay. She loves that horse more than life itself, and that kind of love is something you cannot teach.

Jewelle won the Novice 3D Average on Owen and the 3D poles Saturday with a 24.1. She is one of the kindest kids you will meet and is always cheering on her teammates, so I was especially proud to see her push herself this weekend.

Abi won the P*e Wee 3D Average on Loma and finished 2nd in the 1D Pole Bending Average with two clean runs of 22.41 and 22.6. She has worked SO hard to keep those pesky poles standing, so seeing it all come together was pretty special.

Ollie and Chrome laid down a beautiful 22.71 in the poles, putting them in the 1D. Not every run went our way, but Ollie came back the next day, rode tougher and got the job done.

Elin and Rayo won the 4D poles with a 24.9. After Rayo’s scope and treatment, he was feeling GOOD, and Elin really found her inner cowboy and rode like she meant it.

Nevaya won the Novice 3D on her 6 year old Muffin with a 20.4 and entered her first Derby Finals with only six competitive runs on her. She has done such a great job bringing that mare along.

Chae and Cricket really put the whole package together this weekend. Cricket looked like a true rodeo horse in both the barrels and poles, and after one of those pesky garbage cans came down, Chae regrouped, came back the next day with a plan and executed it like a boss.

Yes, the times and placings were incredible. Saddles and averages were won, and our horses performed so well.

But the part I am proudest of happened outside the arena too.

These girls helped each other, looked after each other’s horses, figured out schedules with no service, handled nerves and disappointments, and somehow helped us figure out how to self pen 12 horses after realizing we left nine travel panels at home. 🤣

Finals come with pressure. Everyone imagines that buckle, saddle or perfect clean run. But I was just as proud of the girls when things did not go their way.

At the end of the day, if you knock one over, it is only a garbage can and there is not even any garbage in it. 😂 Love your horse, learn from it and go again.

A lot of people also do not realize how frequently my students switch horses. Some are lucky to have two lessons on a horse before taking them to a big race, and many who do not own their own horse only ride twice a week. That makes what these kids accomplish even more impressive to me.

A huge thank you to Sydney Delay for always helping me. Thank you to Cary’s, Nevaya and everyone who helped look after my babies so I could coach and keep this circus moving. I could not do it without you.

I was also pretty proud of myself this weekend. After having two babies, I do not always feel capable of doing what I once could. Devon Heck gave me the pep talk I needed before my first run: trust your gut, trust your horse and go have fun.

So I did.

Stevie looked after me and we ran an 18.6. ❤️

If I expect these girls to trust themselves, love their horses first and have fun regardless of the outcome, I need to do the same.

Now we get ourselves organized, make a few horse switches and head into the BCBRA Finals this weekend with 23 horses coming off the ranch.

The daddy of them all. 🤣

So proud of this team, these horses and all the people who make this crazy life possible. ❤️ Erin Valley Riding Stable Kelcie Mills

From foggy Dewey mornings to dirt rides, pole bending, barrel racing and everything in between… this weekend at the Canadian Barrel Racing Finals in 100 Mile House has been one for the books.

Our Elite Team is soaking up every moment — from early mornings surrounded by green, lush trees, beautiful skies and those unforgettable moments spent together as a team.

There’s something so special about watching these riders work hard, cheer each other on, and continue to grow both in and out of the arena.

And let’s just say… our riders are DOING SO GOOD!

The nerves, the excitement, the celebrations, the tough rides and the little moments in between — we’re capturing it all.

That’s a wrap on our 2026 Rodeo Academy season. 🤍🐴

Posting our year-end final standings feels a little bittersweet. This program has grown into so much more than lessons and rodeos. It has become a community of kids, families, coaches, helpers, horses, and so many incredible people behind the scenes who make the whole thing possible.

There are so many people I need to thank.

First, to my sidekick Sydney Delay, thank you for answering any and all questions, keeping things organized, and quite literally being half of my brain, not just through Rodeo Academy season, but all year long. I truly don’t know what I would do without you.

To David, thank you for listening to every idea I come up with, supporting all of the chaos that comes with it, and occasionally pretending you don’t notice when another horse or saddle somehow appears in the yard. 😂

To my brother Kyle, thank you for helping with the ground this season and for always jumping in to help with whatever needs to be done around the ranch.

To my sister , for being the greatest sister and support system.

To my parents, they planted this dream in a round about way and have done everything in their power and resources to support it.

To the Salle family, my second family for all of my nonsense requests. Thank you so much for everything you do for us on the ranch.

To our incredible coaches, Nevaeh, Chae and Stella, thank you for the time, patience, heart, and energy you pour into every student. These kids are so lucky to have people who care so deeply about their success both in and out of the arena.

To all of our lesson help, thank you for working endlessly through the heat, helping students, catching and saddling horses, keeping everything moving, and making sure our horses are cared for. So much of what happens here simply would not happen without you.

A huge thank you to our prize sponsors, The Horse Barn and Western Outfitters. Being able to reward these kids for their hard work is so special, and seeing the smiles on their faces when they receive their prizes never gets old.

To all of our parents, thank you for supporting your kids’ dreams. In doing that, you are also supporting mine. It is truly my passion to match these kids with horses, help them build confidence, and watch both horse and rider grow together throughout the year. Getting to be a small part of that journey is something I will never take for granted.

And of course, none of this would be possible without my incredible string of horses. They are the heart of this program, and I am endlessly grateful for every one of them.

Thank you to the amazing people who help keep them feeling their best: Kathy Blackwing, for making sure our saddles fit properly and helping keep everyone comfortable in their bodies; Zander, Mike and Sam, for keeping their feet balanced and helping them feel their best from the ground up; and Kamloops Large Animal Vet and Billy Hodge for taking such good care of everything else along the way. It truly takes a team to keep this many horses happy, healthy, and able to do their jobs.

I also need to give a very special thank you to my childcare and amazing babysitters. This entire dream would be impossible without you.

One of the most incredible things is that I can step outside, go do what I love, and know that the two people I love most in the world are also having the best time and being so well cared for during those hours. Thank you Nevaya, Joanna, Carys, Amelia, Meg, Sophie, Sam, Kyle, and everyone in between who has stepped in and helped throughout the year. You make it possible for me to be a mom and still continue building something I care so deeply about.

And finally, thank you to every student and family who trusted us with another season. Watching these kids become better riders, stronger horsemen, more confident competitors, and good teammates is what makes all of the long days worth it.

While our Rodeo Academy season has officially come to an end, our Elite Team is just gearing up for the two weekends they have been working toward all season. 🤍

Next weekend, they will head to the Canadian Barrel Racing Finals in 100 Mile House, followed by the BC Barrel Racing Finals in Kamloops the weekend after.

These riders have put in so much work, time, and dedication throughout the year, and I am incredibly excited to watch them step into these final two weekends and represent Erin Valley. We are so proud of them already and cannot wait to cheer them on as they finish out their season.

We have already had lots of messages about 2027 registration. Registration will open in November, with early registration available to past participants. If you are interested in the 2027 Elite Team, please reach out spots will be limited and they tend to fill quickly.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I feel incredibly blessed, incredibly grateful, and very lucky to get to call this my job.

Congratulations to all of our competitors on an amazing season. 🤍
