Today's Volunteer Highlight is Gaudenza. Last year at Timeraiser she pledged to volunteer 65 hours to community. In a few short days we will present her with the art she bid on "Sneaks." Thanks for giving your time Gaudenza!

Today's art feature is "Sentinel of the Stream" by Carly Schmidt. Carly was recently recognized as the Kamloops Arts Council Artist Member of the Month. In Carly's words "My painting “Sentinel of the Stream” received an Honourable Mention at the Art Exposed Regional Exhibition, and I’m thrilled to share that it also sold through the Kamloops Timeraiser auction.
This piece holds a quiet moment that means a lot to me. A fox sits at the edge of a British Columbia stream, not hunting, not fleeing... Simply present. The work explores that rare pause in nature where everything feels steady, grounded, and alive all at once.
I’m deeply thankful to the Kamloops Arts Council and the Art Exposed exhibition organizers, the Timeraiser team, and the collector who connects with this piece enough to bring it home. It means the world to see artwork resonate with others."

For August's Member of the Month, we're excited to introduce Carly Schmidt, the owner of Kamloops Art Party!

Carly has loved creating art from a young age and has never stopped. She quickly became a Jill of all trades, as she became obsessed with anything creative, whether that was colouring, painting, or sculpting. She first started her professional journey when she was in high school, selling paintings and commissioned portraits.

Throughout her years creating, Carly has always loved to learn. One of the reasons she continues with art is that "as someone who loves learning, there is no ceiling to what you can explore." This ties directly into a quote Carly has taken to heart: Bob Ross' “... happy little accidents.” This philosophy has taught her that "mistakes are rarely the end of the story," which is one of the unique things about creating art. No matter what mistake is made, it has taught Carly to be "flexible, solve problems creatively, and believe that you can make something meaningful out of almost anything."

This week on Meet Someone New Monday we're sitting down with Clare from the East Kamloops BIA BUT we're talking about Kamloops Timeraiser. It's a really cool fun event that's coming up on Oct. 16th! I'll be there hosting the night, and YOU could be there if you get a ticket, donate your TIME (not money) and earn a lovely piece of art by a LOCAL artist. Come join Clare and I won't you? And while you're at it: Be a friend. Tell a friend. And yes, we know that some of you already met Clare a few weeks ago!

We are still in need of a couple volunteers to assist us with the day of set up as well as the night of the event. (Oct 15 & 16).
We need someone with gentle hands that is willing to assist with setting up the artwork and someone that can help with the raffle basket ticket sales. If either of these interest you and you are willing to lend a hand, please direct message us.
Thank you so much to all of our helpers! We couldn't put on the event without you!

We will once more be set up at the Kamloops Regional Farmers' Market today, shining light on all things Timeraiser!
(see what we did there?)
Today's art feature is "Chrome, Chain, Crystal Chandalier" by Laura Balogh. It is hard to describe, but somehow this lamp is... sexy. We can't explain it. Lamps aren't typically 'sexy' and yet this one is. Also, this picture definitely does not do it justice. You NEED to see it in person. So, guess that settles it. You need to come to Timeraiser to see this striking, sizzling and seductive lamp. Might as well buy your tickets now. https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/volunteer-kamloops-timeraiser-2026-tickets-1997427797311
