Missed yesterday’s job fair in Merritt?
Tyler Bateson, Trisha Mayer, Tyler Rooke, Brock Roadhouse, and Nicole Golos were so happy to see our strongest turnout yet, but don't worry, there's two more upcoming chances to meet our team in person.

LNSS has significant work underway at Teck’s Highland Valley Copper Mine, where we are supporting a number of project scopes associated with the Mine Life Extension (MLE) Project, including the Site Wide Services (SWS) Project. This work is creating a wide range of employment opportunities for qualified local candidates.
In addition to our work at HVC, LNSS continues to deliver aggregate supply, concrete services and civil construction projects throughout the Merritt area.
Current opportunities include Excavator Operators, Grader Operators, Dozer Operators, Skilled and General Labourers, Rock Truck Operators with a Class 3 licence and packer experience, Class 1 and Class 3 Drivers, a Shuttle Bus Driver, an HSE Advisor and a Civil Foreman.

If you missed yesterday’s event, the next opportunity is next week on September 23 at the Whispering Pines / Clinton Indian Band Job Fair. Our team will be at Clinton Memorial Community Hall from 10am to 4pm, meeting local and Indigenous job seekers and taking part in on-site mini interviews.

We’ll also return November 19 for the next Lower Nicola Indian Band - LNIB Job Connections event.

Tomorrow, we'll be at the Lower Nicola Indian Band - LNIB Job Connection Event at the Shulus Community Arena from 10am to noon. If you’re looking for local work, bring your resume and come talk with the team.

This weekend, we’re sponsoring the 2nd Annual Hé Sqyéytn Festival at the Shulus Arbor in Merritt on September 19 and 20. The festival honours Nlaka’pamux traditional foods and brings together vendors, food, arts, crafts and games.

Then on September 23, our team will be at the Whispering Pines / Clinton Indian Band Job Fair at Clinton Memorial Community Hall from 10am to 4pm. The event is built to connect employers with local and Indigenous talent, with on-site mini interviews and job seekers ready to work.

The same pattern has carried through the past month. In Dawson Creek, Infracon North joined the Fall Fair and donated toys for VJV Auction Co. Dawson Creek Cattle Sales VJV Livestock Marketing Group’s Kids’ Auction. Forty kids took part, every child aged six to 10 received an item, and three young auctioneers helped run the sale. LNSS also supported the Lower Nicola Indian Band - LNIB Golf Tournament for youth sports and the Shulus Arena, our Infracon North team attended the VJV Cattleman Connect Expo, and Ogilvie Mtn Holdings LP joined Hope Brigade Days with a float in the parade.

Rodeo weekend's back in Merritt.
LNSS, Ogilvie Mtn Holdings LP and Infracon are supporting the Nicola Valley Pro Rodeo again this Labour Day weekend. We’ve backed the event for several years, and this year we’re also supplying parking pylons and an Infracon water truck and operator to help control dust around the grounds.

Our local team will be taking in the action too. Chloe Fraser, Project Coordinator with LNSS in Merritt, will be there Saturday. If you see her, come say hello.

Different communities and different paths, yet a lot of the same questions about where the future could lead. This year’s theme, "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations", recognizes the different challenges young people face while highlighting their resilience, leadership and role in their communities.

Last month, our team was in Kamloops for Kamloops-Thompson School District 73 Trades and Transitions Department's Heavy Metal Rocks program event, where Grade 11 and 12 students got hands-on experience with heavy equipment and a look at careers in construction, forestry, mining and the trades. We brought a GPS-equipped grader and an experienced operator, giving students a chance to see the equipment up close and learn what the work actually looks like.

We first took part in the program in 2022 and have stayed involved, including through a similar program with Nicola-Similkameen School District - No. 58 in Merrit.

Bringing the equipment, operator and real-world experience to students gives them something concrete to connect a career to. It also gives communities a chance to meet the people working in the industries around them.

For Infracon, that means showing up, sharing what we know and helping young people get a better look at careers they may not have considered before. Those connections matter when communities, workers and companies are building the future of the region together.

Today, we’re recognizing the young people exploring those paths and the communities helping them get there.

Nothing gets a crowd going like watching your Chief climb up and take the plunge himself.
Every summer the Lower Nicola Indian Band - LNIB Human Services Department builds Fun Day for the LNIB community. They plan it, they run it, and they put real care into it. You can see it in the water slides, the cotton candy, the ball games, and the families spread out across the grounds for the day. The day belongs to them, and they earn it year after year.

Stephanie Henderson, Accounts Receivable Clerk, has been out to the last four:
"LNIB Fun Day is an event I look forward to every year. Having attended for the past four years, I've seen firsthand the care and effort the LNIB Community Services team puts into creating a welcoming and fun day for families and community members. It's always a privilege to support such a positive community event."
