Clinician Deb Dana talks about “glimmers”. The small moments we experience throughout the day that have the potential to bring a sense of calm, safety, connection, or joy — moments that can easily go unnoticed when we’re moving through our days on autopilot.
Despite walking through these doors every day, today was the first time I noticed the way the warm sunlight reflected off the wall in our entranceway.
I paused to take it in, intentionally staying with the moment for just a little longer. I knew the sun would continue moving through the sky, and this little glimmer would soon disappear.
Have you noticed any glimmers today? ✨
We hope everyone will find something that brings them comfort in their sessions here at OCATT. For some, this might be sipping on a warm tea while chatting, sinking into a bean bag chair, or engaging in art together.
Research and practice has shown that beginning therapy with sensory strategies (physical movement, etc) helps the brain “feel safe.” With this sense of safety we are much more likely to be able to relate, listen and process new information in order to understand the meaning of traumatic experiences 🧠
Welcome to OCATT! ✨ We are so happy you’re here. Here’s a little peek at what you can expect when you arrive at our space.
Our therapy rooms are thoughtfully designed to support play, connection, comfort, and regulation for children, teens, adults, and families accessing services.
Whether you’re stepping into therapy for the first time or returning to continue your journey, we look forward to welcoming you through our doors!

Love this post! Coming up with ideas of how to titrate connection with our kids when connection feels unsafe can be so tricky. Connection sometimes needs to happen in small doses to build capacity to trust their safe people.
Small doses of connection might look like a note in a lunch box, a family photo on your key chain, or a text to your teen at a random time showing interest in their day.
