I have been working with special needs children for over 21 years, my journey began with my own children. My first experience was a lesson in advocating as a parent, finding my voice and developing my resolve and stamina in the face of the most emotionally driven crisis of my life… parenting not 1 but 2 kids with very unique special needs. I learned that if I tried to do too many things at one time I couldn’t do anyone of them very well and ended up feeling pretty incompetent. It wasn't until I found Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) that I was given permission as a parent to slow down and focus on the one thing I was made to do, be a mother. I have been a certified RDI consultant for 16 years now and have recently opened the first ever RDI training program in Canada! I’ve been on this RDI path for over 18 years now and sharing some of the most beneficial lessons that I learned along the way is my way of “paying it forward”. As a parent, first and foremost, I am passionate about parenting special kids.
