DEECE

Well it was fun while it lasted.

Unfortunately, the corporate hammer was just too big (and undoubtedly expensive) to fight, even with valid arguments, reason and of course artistic rights.

Thanks for following the “no shame” journey up to this point. There was a lot left (I released about 15 out of 50 works) and it sucks to have to put it to bed so early.

I had a lot to say in regards to shame in many parts of our lives. From the big stuff like relationships, personal image, mental health, society, community and even the small stuff, like our preference in food, movies, clothing, hobbies, and so on.

I felt that using a recognizable brand design language, especially being Canadian, would get these idea’s across in a fun and relatable way. But hey, it came with the risks, though, I didn’t expect ‘them’ to be this fu***ng intense about it out of the blue. I figured let me at least finish the series, I don’t have to sell or advertise anything, but nope!

Either way, I learned a ton: honed my skills in digital art and product photography, and learned new ones in marketing, e-commerce and small scale production. I made a ton of mistakes, but I have no regrets, and will take them forward onto my next project.

Speaking of, DEECE isn’t over! I have some top tier ideas (and more original, I swear) in the brain bank that I’ve been developing in preparation for the eventual end of the no shame series (just, now I need to start it much earlier than expected). It’ll still be focused around stigmas, taboos, technology and pop culture.

A closing note for no shame: I had a bunch of merch, pins, stickers, patches and some framed prints in development. I’ll have to ‘trash’ them, and if you want to know exactly where and how exactly they’ll be ‘left on a curb’ or ‘donated’ somewhere, just find a way to message me about it.

*insert corporation name here*, you should be ashamed of yourself. 😑

See ya guys in the near future!
