There’s something special about seeing the credit union difference through two generations of the same family.
Kindred team member Laura Keller and her daughter, Hannah, a Kindred member, are featured in a recent Canadian Press article exploring how credit unions are helping young Canadians build stronger financial futures.
Their story touches on something we believe deeply at Kindred: financial wellbeing isn’t built through transactions alone. It grows through conversations, trusted relationships and having someone in your corner as your needs and goals change.
We’re delighted to see Laura and Hannah help tell that story.

🎉 Celebrate International Credit Union Day with us!
This month, we’re celebrating something pretty special: the cooperative difference.
International Credit Union Day is a chance to pause and say thank you to our members who choose to bank with purpose, and to the communities we’re grateful to be part of.
On October 15, stop by your local Kindred branch to enjoy some refreshments and hospitality, learn more about our new website, and celebrate with us. While you’re there, enter for your chance to win a $100 gift card to a local business or a $500 socially responsible GIC.*
And for our youngest visitors, we’ll have something new! Pick up a copy of our ABCs of Credit Unions colouring book, a fun way for kids (and maybe a few grown-ups!) to discover what makes credit unions a different.
After all, credit unions are about people coming together, and ICU Day wouldn’t be much of a celebration without you.
*Contest terms and conditions apply.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Our team proudly joined the Remember Me Walk in downtown Kitchener, standing in solidarity with The Healing of the Seven Generations and Crow Shield Lodge to honour residential school survivors and remember the children who never returned home.
09/30/2026
In response to the 94 Calls to Action by Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), the Government of Canada declared September 30 of each year as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a day that seeks to honour First Nations, Inuit, and Métis residential school Survivors and their families and communities.
As we seek to listen, learn, and grow relationships with our Indigenous neighbours, we appreciate the importance of this day and want to draw attention to community partners who are doing important work to help bring healing to those affected by the terrible legacy of the residential school system.
We encourage members and our team to reconnect, reflect, move toward action, and wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools.
Kindred’s observance of this day includes closing all branch and head office locations, including our Member Contact Centre, on September 30. You can still access your account online or at one of our 24-hour ATMs.

What do you want retirement to look like? 🌿
Maybe it's more time with family. Maybe it's travelling, staying involved in your community, or finally having more time for the things you've been putting off. However you picture it, having a plan can help you make decisions today that support the life you want later.
At Kindred, retirement planning starts with that conversation. We take time to understand your goals, your income and savings, and the timing and decisions that come with retirement.
You don't need to know exactly what the next 20 years will look like. Start with what matters to you now, and build a plan that can grow and change with you.

There’s something powerful about bringing people together who are working toward a shared purpose. 💚
Today, recipients of Kindred Charitable Fund grants gathered for our Charitable Fund Symposium — a chance to connect, learn from one another, and share the projects they’re leading in their communities.
From strengthening food security and housing stability to supporting mental health, each organization is responding to real needs in meaningful ways. Hearing their stories in one room was a wonderful reminder of the collective impact that’s possible when we work together.
Thank you to all of our grant recipients for the important work you do every day.
Interested in applying for a 2027 Kindred Charitable Fund grant? Applications open October 15, 2026.

What is an FHSA and how does it work? 💭
An FHSA, or First Home Savings Account, is designed to help eligible first-time home buyers in Canada save toward their first home. You can contribute up to $8,000 each year, to a lifetime maximum of $40,000, and contributions are tax-deductible.
If buying your first home is one of your goals, an FHSA is one option worth understanding as you start planning and saving.

What does it mean to build peace when the world can feel anything but peaceful?
For Kindred, peace is more than an ideal. It’s part of our Anabaptist roots and continues to shape how we think about our relationships with one another, our communities and the world around us.
That’s why we’re pleased to help spread the word about MCC Ontario’s 2026 Peace Conference: Nourishing Peace Together, happening Saturday, November 7 at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate in Kitchener.
It’s a day to come together, hear stories from people pursuing justice and reconciliation, explore practical ways to practise peace in everyday life, and be reminded that each of us has a role to play.
If you’re looking for connection, encouragement and meaningful ways to put peace into practice, you’re invited.
