There are few things better than a perfect steak dinner. 🥩

We were stoked to be invited down to Burdock Brewery’s Kensington location last week to hit up the Tavern.

First up was a brewery tour + visit with the legend (and Head Brewer) John Jenkinson, along with some obligatory tank rips of fresh Bears Pale Ale and even some Double Bears.

Then we headed next door to the Tavern, their steak restaurant for a feed and some brews. Good lord - it was incredible. We crushed:

🍇 Sunkoop III Bière de Coupage, Deluxe L***r + ERO VI Grape Ale
🍖 Buvette steak, steak nachos + green salad
🍮 The best sticky toffee pudding we’ve ever had

🍻 Episode #247: XTRM TURBO with Marc-André Filion of Messorem ~ Adjunct Series 🍻

Arguably the most well-known craft brewery in Canada, Montreal's Messorem Bracitorium have absolutely dominated the global landscape over the past seven years. Co-Founder and Graphic Designer Marc-André jumped back on the pod for the first time in over two years to chat with Cee and Nathan Does B**r on our longest podcast of all time, spanning over 6 hours!! This broke the Third Moon Brewing record of just over 5 hours that held for 2.5 years - incredible. Filion talked about their brand visuals update, how they've taken the brand global so fast, their dedication to quality, their killer L***r program, why they've ran with so many b**r series, their merch business, their approach to collaborations and why they love them, how their French b**r names confuse people sometimes, how their barrel program has evolved over the years, their dedication to Quebec and how they make sure they service the locals first, and why L***rs should be rated properly. They got into a gang of insane Messo brews - Il Fut En Temps : Rice L***r, Czech Pils De Foudre, Demoliri 0040 NEIPA, Destructio 0018 Double NEIPA, Temporalis #0065 Triple IPA, Mort Bleue Barrel-Aged Stout, and Polotmavé De Foudre. This was an incredible episode - we hope y'all can break this up into manageable chunks to soak up the convo! 💀

🍻 Episode #246: Let's Try A New One with Scott Shailer of Woodcutter's Brewing ~ Adjunct Series 🍻

One of our big goals for 2026 and 2027 is to expand the pod to breweries in regions that we haven't typically covered, and this one is certainly a first. Hailing from Whitehorse in The Yukon in North Western Canada, Woodcutter's Brewing has been doing some super unique stuff for the last six years and change. Founder and Head Brewer Scott Shailer sat down with Cee to chat about their "only brew it once" approach to their b**rs, his eclectic career that took him to Ottawa, Gatineau and Whitehorse, what a hop rocket is and how they use it to maximize efficiency from their hop rate, how he works with the nearby Alaskan breweries and their close relationship, why they're Canada's Smallest Music Venue, their 8-seat taproom and the Woodcutter's Blanket next door, what the Yukon scene is like and the palate of the region, how close the Whitehorse breweries are, and why he'll never distribute his b**rs. They got into six fresh crowlers - German Hefeweizen, Temagami Retro IPA, Tatamagouche NEIPA, Belgian Dubbel, Mango Bier, and Smoked Porter. This was a gem of a chat - enjoy! 🏔️

🤘 GODSPEED BRINGS ROCK TO CANADA 🇨🇦

Y’all are likely familiar with the Iron Maiden Trooper series of b**rs that have become legends unto themselves, but Godspeed Brewery just took it to a whole new level with a Canadian limited edition brew. Joining forces with the experimental arm of Pilsner Urquell Brewery, Pivovar Elektrárna, Trooper Saturn exclusively uses Saturn hops from the Saaz region of the Czech Republic, and the b**r is spectacular. At 4.5%, it’s a Czech-style Pilsner that pours a light copper with a huge foamy head and a spicy, bready nose, it’s crisp and so smooth with tons of toasty bread crust, floral grass and herbal pine vibes, there’s a light bitterness, all wrapping in a dry, biscuity, herbal finish. Just phenomenal stuff. 🎸

And thanks to Luc “Bim” Lafontaine, we not only got hold of Trooper Saturn, but also got to taste Desítka 10°, their Czech Pale Light L***r, and Mōhani, their New Zealand Pilsner rocking all NZ Hops Ltd Nelson Sauvin. Both are as impeccable as you would imagine from Godspeed, with Desítka being your full-flavoured, all-day crusher at 3.9%, while Mōhani hits you with some aggressive bitterness and tropical, white grape vibes. 🤌

All three brews (and a lot more) are available now directly from Godspeed or via their online store. Get these in ya! 🍻

🍻 Episode #244: I F**ks With Ducks with John Jenkinson + Matthew Park of Burdock ~ Adjunct Series 🍻

One of the most legendary and impactful Ontario breweries for us from around the time the podcast began is Toronto's Burdock Brewery, and it's kinda wild this is only their first appearance. Co-Founder Matthew Park and Head Brewer John Jenkinson joined Cee and Nathan Does B**r to talk through both of their histories in b**r (including John's first ever Head Brewer job and Burdock's Edinburgh roots), why they decided to focus mostly on L***rs and Saisons, how their w**e b**r hybrid obsession began and their partnership with Pearl Morissette w**ery in Niagara (and the BUMO series), the process of making a b**r w**e hybrid, their move into 8oz Pilsner cans and LCBO acceptance, their choices on packaging and why they're betting on 8oz cans, the importance of being a gateway to new craft b**r drinkers, why they opened their Kensington location and the story of their extremely unique steakhouse taproom next door, how their dedication to THE BAND came about, and why they named their flagship IPA "Ducks". They got into seven impeccable Burdock brews - Deluxe Golden L***r, Pocket Pilsner, The Last Waltz Gold L***r collaboration with The Band, Alto Bianco Quadruple Fruit Grape Ale, Ducktown West Coast Session IPA collaboration with B**rtown - Waterloo, Bears Pale Ale, and Ducks IPA. This was hilariously awesome - cheers! 🧸
