Last night, Leduc City Council voted NOT to proceed with Bylaw 1254-2026, which proposed the redistricting of North Bridgeport Phases 1 and 2 to include 14-foot narrow lot housing products. There were 37 proposed 14-foot narrow lot housing products proposed in this area. To put that into perspective, there are 24 approved 14-foot narrow lot approved across the whole City.

Rather than approving new designations, Council has committed to evaluating the narrow lot developments that are already approved and currently navigating the construction pipeline. This measured approach ensures the City can assess the real-world impact of these housing types before expanding them into new phases or neighbourhoods.

City Council remains supportive of exploring a diverse mix of housing options. However, Council has specified that any new development directly results in responsible growth that strengthens our community, as outlined in the City's Strategic Plan.

The decision reflects Council’s standard for data-driven urban planning. Further analysis regarding whether the 14-foot narrow lot model is the right fit for Leduc will be conducted as the currently approved lots are built out and integrated into the community.
