We help Londoners ride more! Build confidence | Advocate for safe streets | Foster a thriving cycling culture 🚲🧡🔗 COMMUNITY: We’re better together.

London Cycle Link is a volunteer-driven charitable organization that advocates on behalf of all Londoners to make London a safe and healthy, cycle-friendly city. Our motto is "Ride more" and our vision is for London to choose cycling. Partnering with local businesses, community groups, fellow charity and non-profit organizations, and city hall, London Cycle Link campaigns for better bike lanes and roads, promotes cycling safety to both motorists and cyclists, teaches cycling skills to kids through Ride to Thrive, facilitates do-it-together bicycle repair at Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op, and organizes events and projects for a thriving cycling culture. Our values:

EQUITY: We believe cycling should be a viable option for everyone. We welcome all people in our programs, events, and outreach, and we strive to ensure that everybody has access to a working bicycle. We seek to build a supportive, encouraging community of people on bikes, and a unified voice for safer streets and paths. EMPOWERMENT: We help people understand how things work—from the gears on a bicycle, to cycling laws, to City Hall—in order to enable individual and community advocacy, and to support transportation autonomy through cycling. SUSTAINABILITY: Our Earth is in crisis and we need urgent action to prevent climate catastrophe and prepare for a resilient future. Cycling can be a significant part of the solution. We strive to consider environmental and ecological justice in all our decisions. FUN & CELEBRATION: Whether it’s riding downhill, unexpectedly crossing paths with a friend (or a goose), or trying a new bike path for the first time, cycling often makes us smile. We try to infuse a spirit of fun, the unexpected, or the whimsical in what we do. To hear about news, events and issues related to cycling in London, subscribe to our newsletter, Chain Mail. Take 1️⃣1️⃣ minutes and listen now 👂🏽 to Sean McWatt's interview on 980 CFPL News's The Morning Show, where he explains to Devon Peacock how the 2026 Municipal Candidates Ride-Along Campaign came to be.

Sean is a current, active board member and co-chair of the Advocacy & Education Committee. Along with Vincent Lubrano III, they've been organizing a dozen volunteers and coordinating rides 🚲 and coffee chats ☕️ with ward and mayoral candidates.

If London Ontario Canada builds the infrastructure and sends out the right, clear messaging, we can shift the transportation mode share in a more equitable direction. For would-be municipal council to have the first-hand experience of a cycling commuter and hear the pedestrian and active transport safety concerns straight from their constituents—that's a good first step.

Shout-out to London Bicycle Café and Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op for the loaner bikes and hospitality 🧡

Thanks to Bayley and London Cycle Link for taking me for an informational ride through the Ward. We biked through the trails, along Ambleside, Western Rd, Richmond and Fanshawe. I don’t get out on a bike often enough, and it was good to see some of the first hand challenges and issues from a rider's perspective.

This past weekend, I took a bike ride with Alex T. from London Cycle Link around Ward 14. We talked about the needs of cyclists and other active transportation in and around London. Safety, connectivity of pathways, gaps in end to end service and maintenance are key concerns of this community.

It has been a hot minute since I was riding a bicycle but I had a great time with Alex. I used to have a bicycle primarily for leisure enjoyment on the city trails. I can appreciate the challenges LCL has because I still remember the disconnect of having to find my way between Terry Fox Parkway and Greenway Park on city streets that were not marked. I also remember the degraded condition of the pathway at the bottom of the hill under Wharncliffe Road at one point in time.

Some key points in my platform that I want to do for cyclists: Where it is at all feasable, I want to see dedicated bicycle pathways built into the boulevards between the roadway and the sidewalks such as has been done along Bradley Road in White Oaks. I would like to see this done all along Bradley Avenue from Wharncliffe Road all the way out to Veterans to create a fantastic east-west corridor of travel for active transportation along the south end of the city. I would also like to remove legal barriers that keep cyclists off sidewalks at any age. Safety needs to be the priority and if the sidewalk is the safest place for cyclists, especially children, they should be able to access them. The advent of e-bikes is here and more and more people will be choosing this low-cost mode of transportation to get around the city in the future so we should plan to accommodate them.

I want to thank Sean and Alex from the LCL for inviting me to take a ride with them. This was amazing advocacy. If you are a cyclist, get involved with this organization and participate in their community rides to keep cycling issues relevant and just have a great time being active. I intend to get back to cycling eventually and joining them myself in the near future.

World Car Free Day is celebrated on Sept 22. It holds value by reducing urban traffic congestion, lowering carbon emissions, promoting active transportation, sustainability, and community building. As a one day practice it does not make a big difference. We need to support it as a long lasting behaviour when possible.
