Not just the building, but the people, the leaders, the place where children learn, play, pray and are reminded that they are known and loved.

Meet Jackson. Today, he leads a Compassion centre in Rwanda. He mentors children, supports families and works alongside the local church to create opportunities for the next generation.

But years ago, Jackson was one of those children. He attended the same centre where he now serves.

Someone invested in him, encouraged him and walked alongside him. And over time, the place that helped shape his future became the place where he chose to give back.

Poverty is expensive. Not because things cost more, but because they cost more of your life.

For Fabricio, a bottle of clean drinking water can represent hours of work. A water filter can cost nearly a full week's wages.

A delayed paycheque can mean there is no food on the table that night.
And yet he keeps going.

He wakes up before sunrise. He works seven days a week and takes any job he can find because five people are depending on him.

Still, hard work is not always enough. "We don't have much choice about what we eat each day," says 10-year-old Francielly. "When there's corn flour, we eat corn flour. When there are eggs, we eat eggs. And when there's nothing, we eat nothing."

This story is not about giving up. It's about a family that refuses to.

A father who walks his children to school, even when it's a long journey. A mother who keeps believing in a better future. A daughter who helps her father learn to read after he returns from work each evening.

And a local church that keeps showing up. The Compassion centre provides food, encouragement and a place where children can experience things they don't have access to at home. 💒

Most importantly, it reminds them of something poverty can never take away. Their value. "I believe God is always by my side," says Francielly. "He answers all my prayers, especially those invisible things I ask Him: love and happiness."

How much does poverty cost? For families like this one, the answer is measured in hours worked, opportunities missed and difficult choices made every day.

But hope has a cost too. It costs someone choosing to care. It costs the local church showing up. And it costs a community refusing to let a family struggle alone.

With a limited budget and three growing children, every decision matters.

What goes in the basket will become meals for the week ahead. Thanks to nutrition workshops at the Compassion centre, Teo has learned how to make the most of what she has.

She knows how to choose healthy ingredients, prepare balanced meals and help her children build good eating habits.

It's practical support that reaches far beyond a classroom. Because when parents are equipped with knowledge, children benefit every day.

What would you show someone if they could spend a day in your world? For eight-year-old Kelvin, it would start with a long walk.

He walks to school, he walks to church, he walks to the Compassion centre and he walks to the market. In his community in Malawi, walking is simply part of daily life.

Then he would take you to the football field. Not because it is a professional pitch. Quite the opposite.

Kelvin and his friends make their own footballs from old blankets, plastic scraps and paper. They play for hours, laughing, competing and dreaming.

"I love football," he says. "My friends say I'm a good player." 💪 Kelvin doesn't have toys at home. But he has a football and he treasures it.

He dreams big too. Some days he imagines becoming a lawyer. Other days, the manager of Malawi's Reserve Bank. He also knows that one day he may carry on a family tradition and serve as a village chief, helping people live peacefully together.

What makes Kelvin's story special is how familiar it feels. Children everywhere dream about the future. They spend time with friends and find joy in simple things.

Twin brothers Marcos and Isaac lost their mother during childbirth. But they didn't walk through that loss alone.

Alongside their father Honorato and sister Ester Noemi, they found encouragement, support and hope through their local Compassion centre and church.

Over the years, the centre has remained a steady presence in their lives, helping strengthen their family through both practical care and Christ-centred community.

Because when we truly see one another, we begin to understand that lasting transformation happens when hope, dignity and opportunity grow together. 💙

Life is shaped by the stories we grow up believing. For many children in Bolivia's highlands, those stories are about hardship. 😔

They see poverty around them. They watch families struggle. They hear that their future is already decided.

Roy grew up believing much the same. Surrounded by difficult realities, he assumed life would follow a familiar path. But then something unexpected happened.

Someone noticed him. At the local church, Roy found people who listened, encouraged him and helped him discover gifts he never knew he had. One of those gifts was music.

🎸 A guitar became more than an instrument. It became a new voice. Today, Roy serves in worship alongside his family. He plays guitar at church while his father plays keyboard. His younger brother is learning drums. The same family that once struggled with conflict and uncertainty now worships together.

"Thanks to the church there has been a great change in my life and family," Roy says. "We all live happily now. God gave us peace."

Roy's journey started with a boy, a guitar and a local church that believed God had a purpose for him. Today, that hope is transforming an entire family. 🙏 This is the impact of your support.
