A productive visit in Dublin with ChildVision and Vision Ireland.
Roger Steinberg and Alan Davis demonstrated the new features in Prodigi for Windows v1.7 and helped ChildVision manage access for visiting teachers. Together, they planned upcoming training, including BrailleNote evolve, and discussed ways Vision Ireland can support future Prodigi deployments.
They also heard directly from both teams about what they need to keep serving people with low vision. That feedback will help guide future product development.

Meet Grace Dabbieri, one of this year’s HumanWare Jim Halliday Bursary recipients.
Grace saw a problem in STEM education: too many circuitry activities depended on colour-coded wires, visual diagrams and online simulations. Instead of simply working around those barriers, she spoke up. Her feedback helped lead to STEAM Unseen, where she collaborated with University of San Diego engineering students and Braille Institute affiliates to develop tactile circuit cubes that make learning electronics more accessible to blind students.
The cubes contain real electronic components, connect magnetically in the correct orientation, and are labelled in both braille and large print. They were also designed so other schools and organizations can reproduce them using 3D printing or laser cutting.
Now heading to college to pursue cybersecurity, Grace sent us this video after receiving her Jim Halliday Bursary gift.
There is something especially exciting about seeing young people like Grace not only use accessible technology, but question what could be better, share their ideas and help create the solutions themselves.
The next generation of innovators is already at work.

Voici Grace Dabbieri, l’une des récipiendaires de la bourse Jim Halliday de HumanWare cette année.
Avec le projet STEAM Unseen, Grace a contribué à créer des cubes de circuits tactiles afin de rendre l’apprentissage de l’électronique plus accessible aux élèves aveugles.
Alors qu’elle se prépare à poursuivre des études en cybersécurité, elle nous a envoyé cette vidéo après avoir reçu son prix. Une belle illustration d’une nouvelle génération qui ne fait pas qu’utiliser les technologies accessibles, mais qui contribue aussi à les faire évoluer.

La mise à jour 2.0 de Monarch est maintenant disponible et propose de nouveaux outils pour soutenir l’apprentissage, l’évaluation et l’exploration tactile.
Cette mise à jour importante introduit le mode Examen, améliore les mathématiques en braille et la consultation des graphiques dans KeyMath, et enrichit le Visualiseur tactile avec neuf niveaux de zoom pour les fichiers PDF, la prise en charge des fichiers SVG, le zoom rapide, la détection des contours ainsi que de nouveaux outils pour décrire les images et repérer les annotations.
Elle facilite également le partage de fichiers dans KeyDrive, améliore la traduction et la saisie des contenus mathématiques dans KeyWord, et bien plus encore.

Amaaya and Hamza are bringing braille to children across Australia.
The two students from the South Australian School and Services for Vision Impaired in Adelaide recently appeared on ABC’s national children’s news program, Behind the News.
From their school library, they shared how they learned braille, why reading matters to them and how braille is part of their everyday lives. We also loved seeing Hamza use his Brailliant BI 40X and explain how it helps him read and write on his laptop.
