FABRIC re FORM

Maureen's designs celebrate the relationship between function and fashion. Function is not represented as detatched from haute couture, but rather organically woven into one abstract statement. This process creates a three-dimentional form out of traditionally pragmatic materials, translating what she thinks of as 'invisible' fabrics into distinctively 'visible' clothing.

Artist's Statement

I'm a designer of clothing that I create from 'over-produced' clothing, anything I can find that has the print of human use to it, before the garment can be discarded. I refer to it as 'raw material' that I transform.

My designs are formed without the use of flat patterns. I envision and am directed, through the 'draping' process, by their past use and take into consideration the future wearer of my designs - these articles determine the garments final outcome - not a 'market place' value.

Creative integrity and thorough knowledge of shaping techniques has defined a 'personal' rather than 'manufactured' emphasis to my work.

I am constantly challenged in my desire to create a one-of-a-kind line of clothing, by combining yesterday's unused with today's style.

I’m a local textile artist and photographer looking for female models to showcase my handmade artistic hats and dresses in a creative outdoor summer photoshoot.

✨ No modeling experience required
✨ No age limit
✨ Average height and body types welcome
✨ A fun and relaxed artistic collaboration
✨ Photoshoot will likely take place over 1–2 sunny days this summer

While this is a volunteer collaboration and there is no payment, all participants will receive professionally edited photos that they can use for their portfolios, resumes, social media, or personal keepsakes.
