Spent some time studying light and colour outside this summer and it was the best. Here’s where I ended up >>>
📍Gold creek - a favourite spot of mine, I painted here a few times at the beginning of the summer
📍Alouette lake - these mountains always make me feel grounded
📍Shuswap lake - painting on vacation!
📍Gold creek again - this time to try to catch some river colours
📍North alouette river - another favourite spot, so much beautiful light here
📍Same place, different day/time - came back to catch some brighter sunlight on the rocks
Late afternoon light on the river changes fast so this was a 20 minute painting!
Gathering colour notes for new paintings
My favourite season !!!
In the past, I would never share the messy stages and early failures of a new collection of artwork. I preferred to edit out the studies and ideas that didn’t make the cut.
But I thought it would be more fun to show you the work as it takes shape this time.
My goal is for everything to come together by this fall, but for now, this is where it starts. Can’t wait to see where it ends up.

Next weekend ✨
I’ll be part of art studio tour , and I’m so excited to be set up at ’s studio for the weekend.
I’ll have a collection of original paintings inspired by places close to home, along with a limited selection of smaller framed pieces (which are always popular!)
Diane will also have a wide range of work available, including original acrylic and alcohol ink paintings, prints, handmade tote bags, beaded jewellery, and w**e glass charms.
Between the two of us, there’ll lots of beautiful art to explore ☺️
Studio tour is one of my favourite events of the year. It’s a chance to see work in person, take your time browsing, and connect with local artists in a more relaxed setting.
