Around age 7 is a great time for a first orthodontic check-in! 
 
This doesn’t mean your child will need braces right away. Often, it simply gives the orthodontist a chance to look at how the teeth and jaws are developing, spot anything that may need attention later, and keep an eye on growth over time.

Friendly reminder from your orthodontic team: your elastics only work when you wear them. They may be tiny, but they play a BIG role in helping guide your bite into the right position. 
 
Wear them exactly as instructed, replace them regularly, and keep a few extras with you so you’re never caught without them!

Braces-friendly snack swaps = less stress on your brackets.  
 
Think softer, easier-to-chew options whenever you can.  
🥨 Swap crunchy snacks for softer alternatives 
🍬 Skip super sticky or chewy treats 
🍎 Cut harder foods like apples into smaller pieces 
🍦 Softer treats can be a much easier choice 
 
You definitely don’t have to give up all your favourites...sometimes it’s just about changing how you eat them!

Braces might be a little uncomfortable sometimes, but at least they’re working toward a pretty great smile!
