Going deep for clean energy! 🌍✨
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the horizontal ground loops being laid for our West Coast project.
It might just look like trenches and pipes right now, but this is where the magic happens.
Because the earth maintains a constant temperature just a few feet below the surface, these high-density pipes will circulate a heat-transfer fluid to tap into that natural energy.
The result?
Once these trenches are covered, this system will silently provide incredibly efficient heating in the winter and cooling in the summer for decades to come—completely hidden from view.
Clean, renewable, and built to last. 🌱

🔥 Wildfire smoke is affecting air quality across British Columbia—but the air inside your home does not have to suffer.
During smoky conditions, your heat pump, central air conditioning system or HVAC system can help circulate and filter indoor air—but only when it is properly maintained and operated.
A few practical steps can make a meaningful difference:
âś… Inspect, clean or replace your HVAC filter
âś… Keep windows and exterior doors closed
âś… Use the highest-efficiency filter your system can safely accommodate
âś… Set your system to recirculate indoor air where appropriate
âś… Consider running the fan more frequently
âś… Use a properly sized portable HEPA air cleaner for added filtration
West Coast Geothermal encourages homeowners, condo residents and building managers to keep indoor air circulating and filtration systems operating during periods of wildfire smoke.
Read our complete guide to protecting your indoor air quality:

Your indoor air quality does not have to suffer during wildfire smoke.
A properly operating heat pump, central air-conditioning system or forced-air HVAC system can help keep your home cool while repeatedly circulating indoor air through a suitable filter.
A few important reminders:
âś… Check, clean or replace the filter
âś… Keep windows and exterior doors closed during smoke
âś… Consider setting the fan to ON or CIRCULATE
âś… Use the highest-quality filter your system can safely handle
âś… Add a properly sized portable HEPA air cleaner where needed
âś… Aim for multiple clean-air changes per hour through filtration and recirculation
We have put together a practical guide for B.C. homeowners, condo residents and building managers.

Is your condo cooling system ready for New Westminster's new bylaw?
If you own a condo with a water-source heat pump, recent changes in New Westminster could affect how your building operates—and what it means if your air conditioning isn't keeping up this summer.
https://www.westcoastgeothermal.com/blog/new-westminster-cooling-bylaw-heat-pump-systems/
Many condo owners don't realize:
- Your in-suite heat pump depends on your building's central water loop.
- Changes to cooling requirements can put additional demand on older systems.
- If your unit is 10–20 years old, now may be the time to understand your repair and replacement options before you're left without cooling.
We've put together a practical guide explaining:
• What the new bylaw means
• How it affects condo owners
• Signs your heat pump may need attention
• When repair makes sense—and when replacement may be the better long-term choice
If you live in or another Lower Mainland condo with a water-source heat pump, this is worth a read.

Condo heat pump group pricing is now available from West Coast Geothermal.
If your strata building has aging in-suite heat pumps, several owners may be facing the same repair or replacement decision at the same time. Instead of replacing units one by one, coordinated replacement may help reduce costs, simplify scheduling, and make the process easier for owners, strata councils, and property managers.

This program is designed for condo and strata buildings with water source heat pumps that are roughly 10–20 years old. If multiple owners in your building are interested, West Coast Geothermal can review whether your building may qualify for group pricing.
You do not need the entire building to participate. An individual owner, strata council member, or property manager can start the conversation.
Learn more about condo heat pump group pricing and ask whether your building may qualify.

We put together a practical guide for Vancouver homeowners and condo owners covering:
• Common heat pump repair signs
• Typical repair and replacement costs
• Air-source vs water source systems
• When repair makes sense
• When replacement may be the better option
• Why a second opinion can matter
Our repair guide explains when repair makes sense, when replacement is justified, and why condo water source systems need a specialist.

We’re proud to have been part of a geothermal heating and cooling project supporting community facilities at Seabird Island.
The project includes important spaces where learning, administration, recreation, and community life happen every day. By using an open-loop geothermal system, the project is designed to provide efficient heating and cooling while making use of stable groundwater temperatures.
Thank you to Sq'éwqel "Seabird Island Band" and everyone involved in helping bring this project together.

Spring Homeowner Reminder: Change Your Furnace Filter!
Spring is here—which means it’s time for one of the easiest (and most overlooked) home maintenance tasks:
👉 Changing your furnace filter.
A clean filter helps your system:
✔️ Run more efficiently
✔️ Improve indoor air quality
✔️ Reduce strain on your equipment
✔️ Lower your energy bills
If your filter is clogged, your system has to work harder than it should—and that can lead to higher costs or even premature wear.
💡 Quick tip: If you can’t remember the last time you changed it… it’s probably time.
At West Coast Geothermal, we’re all about helping homeowners get the most out of their heating & cooling systems—whether it’s a traditional furnace or a high-efficiency geothermal setup.
Have questions about your system or thinking about upgrading? We’re here to help.
