East Ridge Farms

We’ve finally got some for this week! Also this week… the kale is finally getting going and so are the beets and zucchinis! We’ve also got:
Red leaf lettuce
Cilantro
Arugula (with flowers)
Sugar snap and snow peas
Purple top turnips
Fuku komachi turnips
Garlic braids
Garlic scapes

The stand will be open the usual hours over the long weekend, 10am-11:30pm. Cash or etransfer.

The garlic is harvested!

We actually finished harvesting and hanging it all to cure last Wednesday… it was a hot one! Pulled one row a day early in the AM then bunched and hung it in the shade of the linden tree. Now we wait 4 weeks until it is completely cured, then start cleaning and sorting.

Garlic will be available at the annual pop up market on the farm, which I think will tentatively be September 19th, and also some other weekends either before or after tbd.

On first appearances, the crop is looking good! Lots of big healthy bulbs.

We’ve got some new arrivals for this week!

We harvested and hung ALL of the garlic to cure this week (post about that to follow) so that means there is some fresh garlic for you in the stand. We’re starting with the huge double and triple clove bulbs… honestly 1 clove from these bulbs is like 2-4 regular cloves. Shockingly large lol! In pre weighed bags for your convenience.

Also new this week:
Huge heads of romaine lettuce (limited quantities this year, had issues with my seeds)
Baby beets
Baby kale
Fuku Komachi Turnips
Zinnia seedlings
Cucumber seedlings (slicing and pickling, no it is not too late to plant cucumbers!)
and
Garlic braids
Huge & medium heads of red leaf lettuce
Arugula
Cilantro
Sugar snow and snap peas
Purple top turnips
Garlic scapes

Come get some 100% naturally grown veggies! Lettuce that actually has a flavour!

I’ve got more veggies for you for … finally! We’ve got some huge, beautiful heads of red leaf lettuce, arugula, turnips, radishes, sugar snap & snow peas, cilantro, garlic braids, garlic scapes and calendula flower jars.

Unfortunately, my cooler decided to stop working… perfect timing, so I moved the grow lights out of the farmstand and set up the veggies in there for now. Fingers crossed it’s an easy fix.

The are in! They actually went in last Monday, just never got around to posting. They should love all this hot weather. We’ll have slicing and pickling cukes. Happy that Dan helped me pound in the 26 posts in this year!

I’ve got a surprise for you… some fresh, uncured red Russian garlic braids! It’s super juicy, packs a garlicky punch and the clove wrappers are still soft so it’s easy to peel. Limited quantities this weekend.

I’ve also put together some calendula + lavender + carrot flower jars. The flowers are all edible! Great to look at or put on a salad or dry and make a tea out of.

And finally, I’ve got radishes! Finally some veggies starting to come out of the farm! We still have garlic scapes available too!

We’ve still got chillen in the cooler if you need some!

When you arrive you’ll notice we’ve been tidying up the place… put in a new farm gate, picked driveway weeds and put up a new sign holder! Just have to get new farm and studio signs to hang. In the mean time, you’ll see tiny little temporary signs lol.
