As we head into the weekend, we wanted to share a few of our recent two-toned kitchens- which is a pretty hot trend right now!

One of our favourite ways to bring a little colour and personality into a kitchen is by adding it to the base cabinets and/or island. We know white kitchens are timeless (and for good reason—they never really go out of style!), but that doesn’t mean your kitchen has to be all white. A little colour pop can totally change the feel of your kitchen.

Using a darker colour on the base cabinets or island helps ground the space and creates a warm, cozy, inviting feel. Keeping the upper cabinets light and bright helps the kitchen feel open and airy—and can even make smaller spaces feel a little more spacious.

Here are a few two-tone kitchens that we have done recently! Each of these examples is our UGO, our most cost-effective line!

Hello again!

As summer winds down and we get back into the swing of things, we are renewing our commitment to be more present on social media. We have so much interesting stuff to share that it really is a shame if we don’t actually share it!

So today we start with nothing more than reintroducing ourselves…
We are Blue Mountain Kitchens, a proud family business, located at 22380 Lougheed Highway in the heart of Maple Ridge. The OG Blue Mountain location, started by Jared, opened in 2013, and is where Mr. Mustache now calls home. It was a big risk to go all-in on the brick-and-mortar thing, but having a space where clients could come, touch and feel samples, and yank on drawers and inserts mattered.

We eventually moved to our current location at 22380 thanks to a great relationship with the Fuller Watson family- we even knocked down a wall so people could move freely between our shops. What started as a team of 1 is now a team of 7 + Dad (the one responsible for so much but is likely not fairly compensated for all he does).

Our team's smiling faces, and a bit about them, will appear on this feed soon. Jared is now second in command at BMK; at the helm is the Chief Happiness Officer, Edward (Eddie for short), the sassy Boston Terrier who barks at people, candy wrappers, and invisible things as they pass by.

So, after this little introduction, it is nice to meet you through this screen, and we hope one day you pop by and let us share the passion for design, function, and creativity this business was built on. In the meantime, stay tuned for a lot of tips, tricks, pictures, and useful information in the weeks and months to come.

Local project in Maple Ridge

We feel we have to showcase this project we completed in Maple Ridge. It is absolutely stunning.
The crisp white cabinetry keeps the space feeling open and airy, while the natural wood accents around the fridge, open shelving and ceiling detail bring just enough warmth and character.

Trying to make up dealer sample kits and contractor packages, and this one decided to root in the labels and plunk herself down right in the middle of my makeshift production line.

See.....good things really do come in small packages! This little bathroom makeover is having a BIG impact. Special shoutout to Teresa's elbow in the mirror- it's always a game to not get caught in the mirror when photographing the bathroom!

We love quick projects like this, so if you need a bathroom makeover, UGO could be a perfect fit! Cases are stocked locally, we have an in-stock white beveled shaker, and if white isn't up your alley, we have 27 colours and 9 door styles to choose from!

And before this post gets too long, we know all the ways to keep costs down for your project. For example, our UGO cabinets were designed with white finished ends. This means that if you choose a white door and your vanity doesn't but up against the wall, you won't need panels, since we don't have any exposed fasteners on the sides of the cabinets.
