Your local Air Cadets (583 Coronation Squadron) are selling tickets for the Annual Maple Ridge Rotary Duck race. We have 7 tickets remaining that we would really love to sell to our local community. Each ticket costs $10 (which gives you 1 duck in the race) and $8 from each of those tickets comes directly to the Air cadets to fund the activities the kids do during the year.

Please email [email protected] if you would like to help us reach our fundraising goal and purchase one of our tickets.

We are accepting e-transfer or cash as payment for the ticket. Thank you all!

*** If you have youth aged between 12 and 18 who are interested in joining the air cadets, we meet Thursday evenings at the Albion Fairgrounds in the Commercial Barn. Please see Cadets.ca for joining instructions, email us at [email protected] or come along any Thursday evening for more information - we start again after the summer vacation break on Sept 10th***

Tomorrow most of the Country will celbrate Canada Day. We hope all our has a safe and happy holiday. 🇨🇦

In Newfoundland at Cenotaphs across the province people will gather to commemorate Memorial Day in honour of the sacrifices of the soldiers of the Royal Newfounland Regiment who were lost at Beaumont Hamel in 1916. Newfoundland didn't join Confederation until 1949 so before Newfoundland ever celebrated a single Canada Day they had already commemorated 33 Memorial Days. Lest We Forget 🌺

On June 20th, 2026, cadets from 583 Air Cadets, joined by a couple of cadets from other squadrons, participated in a recruiting booth YPK Airport Day at Pitt Meadows Airport.

A Tow plane was present and many people enjoyed going in and taking pictures in the aircraft, while our cadets and officers spoke about the program and recruited new cadets!

On June 11th, 2026, 583 Coronation Squadron hosted its Awards Night, celebrating all of the cadets' hard work, presenting awards to those who stood out, and recognizing the age-out of our Chief, Mr. Rizwan!

We also had the opportunity to welcome LCol MacDonald, Lt(N) Deck, and several other special guests. In addition, we witnessed the Change of Command ceremony, during which Captain Middelveen passed command to Captain Murray.

Congratulations to everyone who received awards, and thank you to everyone who attended this exciting event and helped make it possible!

On the weekend of May 29th, cadets from 583 Coronation Squadron participated in excercise Dead Torch at Area C. Cadets built their teamwork and survival skills, from building half shelters to navigating compass courses, and eating and cooking Meals Ready to Eat. This was the first FTX 583 has held in a while, and we would like to thank all the officers, Civilian Volunteers, and cadet staff that made the FTX happen.

On May 9th, 2026, 583 Coronation Squadron hosted its annual ceremonial review! The cadets were proud to display what they’ve learnt throughout the year, and the review had people from all across the Fraser valley attending. Two well deserved medals were given out, the Lord Strathcona medal to Flight Sergeant Halstead, and the Air Cadet League of Canada Medal of Excellence to Warrant Officer Second Class Szucs.

Our 583 Cougar band presented a thrilling band display while our drill team showed off their precision and expertise with a drill routine. LAC Challa, our Master of Ceremonies also presented a riveting speech about cadets.

The Reviewing Officer and party were full of praise, Bravo Zulu to all cadets, especially those who received awards!

On January 24th, 2026, cadets from 583 Coronation Air Cadets went snowshoeing up at Mount Seymour. There they learned how to use survival skills such as what to do if you're lost in the freezing cold, and trekked through the snowy expanse of the mountains. Our cadets had a blast snowshoeing and are sure to come again! Thank you to the squadron for hosting this exciting event for our cadets, they definitely appreciated it.
