After a lot of thought, I’ve decided I won’t be participating in the Maple Ridge News A-List Awards this year.

First and foremost, thank you to every client, friend, family member, and supporter who has taken the time to vote for me. Your support means more than I can put into words.

Since returning to Maple Ridge just three years ago, I have been incredibly honoured to win the A-List Award every single year. That accomplishment is something I’m truly proud of, and it’s only possible because of the amazing people who continue to support my small business.

Unfortunately, despite winning three years in a row, my experience with the awards has been disappointing. Year after year, I’ve felt overlooked when it comes to recognizing the winners. While many businesses seem to receive acknowledgment and celebration, I’ve had to repeatedly follow up and ask just to receive my winner’s certificate.

Recognition should be consistent and equitable for every business that earns it. After experiencing the same thing three years in a row, I’ve decided it’s time to step away from participating.

This decision is not about the people who voted for me—quite the opposite. Your loyalty, trust, referrals, and encouragement have been the greatest reward I could ever receive, and I will always be grateful for that.

At some point, it stops being about winning and starts being about how the winners are treated. I sincerely hope that, in the future, every business that earns this recognition receives the same acknowledgment and appreciation they deserve.

Watching you grow into the incredible woman you are today has been such a privilege. I am so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and so grateful that you’ve trusted me to be part of your hair journey through so many milestones and achievements.
