Throwback Thursday: Celebrating where our story began 💙

As we prepare to celebrate 70 years of Maple Ridge Christian School, we’re looking back on the faithful beginnings of our community.

In September 1956, their prayers were answered with the opening of Haney-Pitt Meadows Christian School (HPMCS) in the basement of Maple Ridge Christian Reformed Church. With just 28 students and two teachers, Mr. and Mrs. Ayers, a vision was born - to provide children with an education rooted in faith, learning, and community.

Just one year later, growth led to a new home at McNeil and Harris Road in Pitt Meadows, where 38 students gathered in its classrooms. These pioneering families sacrificed their time, finances, and resources to build a school where students could grow academically and spiritually.

Nearly seven decades later, we continue to be shaped by the same faith-filled foundation laid by those who came before us.

More than a game, athletics is where character is built.

At Maple Ridge Christian School, our athletics program encourages students to grow through teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Whether competing on the field, court, or track, students learn to use their gifts, support their teammates, and honour God through sport.

From elementary running club and cross-country to middle school and high school teams competing throughout the year, athletics provides opportunities for students to develop confidence, leadership, and lifelong lessons that extend far beyond the scoreboard ⚽

We’re proud of our Hornets and the way they represent MRCS - with heart, humility, and a commitment to excellence.

Introducing our 2026-27 Throughline: Justice Promoters

This coming school year, we are inviting our students to explore what it means to seek justice, show compassion, and reflect God’s heart in the way we live, learn, and serve others.

Rooted in Psalm 112:4–5:

“Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous. Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.”

As Justice Promoters, we are called to notice the needs around us, stand up for what is right, and use our gifts to bring hope and restoration to our communities.

We can’t wait to see how our students live out this calling throughout the year. 💙

Our International Program welcomes students from around the globe into a Christ-centred community where they are known, supported, and encouraged to thrive academically, spiritually, and personally.

From Kindergarten through Grade 12, students experience a high-quality Canadian education while building lifelong friendships, strengthening their English language skills, and discovering opportunities in athletics, fine arts, leadership, and service.

For our high school students, carefully selected Christian homestay families provide a safe, welcoming environment that truly feels like a home away from home.

Music has the power to inspire, connect, and glorify God 🎶

From singing and movement in the elementary years to concert band, jazz band, and opportunities to lead worship in chapel, students are encouraged to develop their musical gifts while using them to serve others and praise God.

Along the way, they build confidence, creativity, discipline, and teamwork - skills that extend far beyond the music classroom. We believe every note played and every song sung is another opportunity to worship through excellence and discover the gifts God has given each student.

to a little over a year ago, when we officially celebrated the Grand Opening of our newly expanded campus!

It was a milestone years in the making and a day filled with gratitude as students, staff, families, alumni, and community members gathered to celebrate all that God has done through MRCS.

Over the past year, these new spaces have become home to countless moments of learning, friendship, worship, athletics, creativity, and community. Seeing our students thrive within these walls has been a reminder of God's faithfulness and the generosity of those who helped make this vision a reality.

As we look back, we're filled with gratitude. As we look ahead, we're excited for all that God has in store for the future of MRCS. 💙

A Christ-centred education is about so much more than academics. It's about partnering with families to help students grow in faith, character, and knowledge while discovering who God has created them to be.

We're grateful for parents who entrust us with their children and for the opportunity to walk alongside them each day. Hearing stories like this reminds us why we do what we do.
