One of the things I'm really enjoying about being part of RMPS (Ridge Meadows Professionals for Seniors) is learning about all of the great events and resources available for seniors in our community.

The Country Fest: Seniors Sneak Peek offers a relaxed afternoon with live music, exhibit barn tours, complimentary refreshments, discounted food, free parking, and golf cart transportation around the grounds.

Exciting news!

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Ridge Meadows Professionals for Seniors as the group's Mortgage Broker.

RMPS brings together local professionals who provide valuable services to seniors in the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows community.

I’m looking forward to building connections, sharing mortgage insights, and helping seniors and their families better understand their options when it comes to homeownership, retirement, and home equity.

This weekend at the Children’s Heart Network Family Camp, it was incredible to see the impact of community support in action.

Even though RBC isn’t one of the lenders I work with, it was really inspiring to see three RBC team members come out to volunteer their time and then present a donation to the Children’s Heart Network.

As a parent of a heart warrior, I know firsthand how much organizations like this mean to families navigating complex medical journeys. The support, connection, and resources they provide are invaluable.

It’s always encouraging to see businesses and lenders stepping outside of their day-to-day roles to invest back into the community and support causes that make such a meaningful difference.

A big thank you to RBC and to the Children’s Heart Network for all that you do to support heart families like ours ❤️

Rietel Mortgage What I’m Seeing Right Now

One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make is waiting until their renewal date to review their mortgage options.

Many lenders send renewal offers weeks in advance — but that doesn’t always mean it’s the best option available.

Ideally, you should start reviewing your mortgage 1–6 months before your renewal date so you have time to:
• Compare rates and products
• Explore refinance opportunities
• Access equity if needed
• Consolidate debt
• Improve cash flow
• Review long-term financial goals

A renewal is not just a signature — it’s an opportunity to make sure your mortgage is still working for you.

If your mortgage is coming up for renewal this year, now is a great time to start the conversation.

Many families assume that helping their children buy a home means selling their own.

In reality, there may be other options.

This week I worked through different scenarios for a family looking at:
• Keeping the parents’ current home
• Using equity strategically
• Providing a gifted down payment
• Exploring separate purchase options for adult children
• Structuring financing in a way that supports everyone long-term

Sometimes one conversation can completely change what people think is possible.

There is no one-size-fits-all mortgage strategy — especially when family, equity, and long-term planning are involved.
