Our Learning Pods (Learning Lab) at The Playmakers Club offer a mixed, emergent-curriculum and interest-led learning environment designed for creative, strong-willed, curious kids who may not thrive in a traditional sit-down-and-listen setting.

We’re not about piles of worksheets or expecting every youth to learn the same thing, in the same way, at the same time.

Instead, you’ll find:

🎨 Art, building, games, cooking and hands-on projects
🛝 Lots of gross-motor movement and opportunities for self-regulation

Our team has experience supporting neurodivergent youth, including autistic youth and youth with PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance / Persistent Drive for Autonomy) profiles. We understand that sometimes connection, trust, autonomy and flexibility need to come before traditional expectations.

We want to work with youth and families, not try to squeeze kids into a program that simply doesn’t fit them.

Looking for some fun social opportunities for your tween and tween? 🎲 Curious if Dungeons & Dragons might be your youth’s thing?

Come give it a try tonight at Teen Town at The Playmakers Club!

Tony will be there ready to welcome new and experienced players for a D&D One Shot. Youth can learn how the game works, create a character, meet other players, and jump into an adventure without committing to a full campaign.

🐉 Not quite sure they’ll enjoy D&D? That’s okay too!

Teen Town has lots of other ways to spend the evening. Youth can hang out with friends, explore the indoor playground, play games or chess, create some art, or maybe even get some baking going in the kitchen.

Many of our youth also enjoy heading over to McDonald’s together, giving them a chance to practice budgeting, ordering, making choices, and other everyday life skills while spending time with their peers.

Our Friday Teen Town is a flexible space for youth of all abilities to unwind, connect, collaborate, build independence, and spend time doing things they actually enjoy.

And if D&D does turn out to be their thing, our campaign groups had their Session Zero this week, so it’s not too late to join a campaign next week and adventure together all the way to Christmas break! 🎲⚔️

This isn’t about sitting at a desk doing worksheets. It’s about learning through doing, following interests, playing games, working on projects together, building skills, getting creative, and most importantly, having a chance to connect with peers.

The day can grow and change based on what the tweens are actually interested in. Come for the projects, stay for the friendships. 💚

🎲🐉 THIS WEEK: D&D SESSION ZERO! 🐉🎲

Our fall Dungeons & Dragons groups are getting ready to begin, and this week is all about building your character, meeting your group, and getting ready for the adventure ahead!

Come join us for Session Zero and:

🧙 Create or finish your character
🎲 Learn about the campaign and how the game will run
🤝 Meet the other youth in your group
💬 Connect with your DM and ask questions
⚔️ Talk about character ideas, backstories, party roles and goals
✨ Get comfortable before the full adventure begins

New to D&D? No problem at all. We can help you build a character from the ground up.

Already have a favourite character ready to roll? Bring them along and we’ll help make sure they fit the campaign.

Session Zero is a great way for youth to walk into the first official game night already knowing a few faces and feeling like part of the party.
