Why use a base station during a magnetic survey?
Earth's magnetic field is constantly changing throughout the day. These natural variations can introduce distortion into survey data if they are not properly accounted for.

Archaeologists are increasingly turning to as a non-invasive way to investigate buried cultural features before excavation begins.
At the ancient Roman city of Tusculum in Italy, researchers combined magnetometry, EM induction, and ground penetrating radar to map subsurface archaeological features. The magnetic survey utilized the GSM-19 magnetometer as part of the integrated investigation.
Magnetic methods can help identify archaeological structures, walls, ditches, kilns, and other cultural features while minimizing disturbance to the site, making them a valuable tool for archaeological research and heritage preservation.
