The George Jackson Self-Advocacy Award honours the legacy of George Jackson, a passionate self-advocate, Rights Trainer, and former president of the CLH Self-Advocates Council. George helped create more respectful and inclusive language for people supported by CLH.
This award recognizes individuals who advance self-advocacy, promote inclusion, and advocate for the rights of people with developmental support needs through their leadership, advocacy, and everyday actions. We are so pleased to share that this year's deserving recipient of the George Jackson Self-Advocacy Award is Margaret. π
A huge thank you to Margaret for the impact she creates, the voices she uplifts, and for her unwavering commitment to belonging. Congratulations! π

Johanna, Alyshia, and direct support pro Melanie returned to the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre to get creative and decorate some pumpkins for their annual Paint the Town Pink campaign!
With a little bit of pink and lot of sparkle, these ladies had a wonderful time supporting an important cause. Money raised by the campaign helps to support the Centre's programs and services for people affected by cancer in our region.
You can order your very own painted pumpkin and help support the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre by visiting: https://app.etapestry.com/onlineforms/GeorgianBayCancerSupportCent/Pumpkin-1-1-1-1.html

On September 30, CLH Developmental Support Services recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation; a day to honour Residential School Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the lasting impact on Indigenous families and communities.
Today is a day to reflect on and acknowledge the truth that Survivors and Indigenous Peoples have carried for generations. It is a call to action for all of us to listen, learn, and is a reminder that reconciliation is a shared responsibility and a commitment to meaningful change.

Richard and direct support pro Lyndsay headed north for a day of adventure at Algonquin Provincial Park. π
They spent the day hiking the Algonquin Logging Museum Trail, learning about the area's interesting forestry history, and taking in all the beautiful sights and fresh air along the way. It was a perfect day to explore the great outdoors! π₯Ύπ³

It was an apple pie kind of day! The group spent the day baking lots of delicious apple pies. Everyone made one to take home, but of course, they couldn't make all those pies without doing a little taste test first! π
The kitchen smelled like fall, and the pies were absolutely delicious! ππ₯§

π Cora and Bonnie had an amazing night out with direct support pro Joan, cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs as they took on the Montreal Canadiens!
As true Leaf fans, they cheered loudly for their team all game long. Unfortunately, the Habs came out on top with a 4-1 win.
Win or lose, these ladies had a great night!
And yes... they even let Joan sit with them despite being a Habs fan! π
