This is a tough one to accept and share, but sadly, on Sunday, Koi passed away. 💔

That morning, I found him on his side, appearing to have seizure activity. He was unable to sit up or move and sadly, he passed away shortly afterward.

I feel an incredible sadness that Koi never got to have the happy ending he deserved, especially after coming so far physically and mentally. He had been through hell and back, but he was becoming a different bunny. Koi was no longer extremely fearful, and I had such high hopes for his future and finding him the loving home he deserved.

I can’t help but feel guilty that I was busy this weekend and didn’t check on him as often as I normally would. I keep thinking about whether I could have noticed something sooner.

I’m so sorry, Koi. You deserved so much more. I’m grateful I got to know the sweet bunny underneath that fear and give you the chance to feel safe and loved.

Rest easy and peacefully, sweet Koi. 🌈🐇💔

Update on RRR’s Strudel! He adjusted to his new home with flying colors and quickly became best buds with “Cheese”. 🥰

Having a variety of hay types on hand is so helpful for our picky eaters! 🌾 Some critters have their preferences or are getting used to eating hay, and we’re happy to be able to offer them different options.

Unfortunately, we have a case of skin mites with our guinea pig crew. 😭 Video in the comments.

This really sucks because mites can spread easily and quickly, meaning we have to treat not only the affected piggies, but the entire exposed group plus extra sanitizing!

Skin mites are fairly common in guinea pigs, especially those coming from certain pet stores. A few of our piggies’ original owners purchased them from the same pet store, so we suspect this may be where the exposure originated. Beth is due to give birth any day so she needs a safe treatment and possibly her babies will. 🤰🏻

An unexpected $300-$400 expense has now been added to our plate. Rescue life is full of unexpected expenses, but these little guys deserve proper care and need our help to feel better.

This is such a big milestone for a bunny who nearly didn’t make it due to the mistreatment she endured. Seeing her now, knowing she has a safe and loving future ahead, means more than I can put into words.

Sprout is a trusting, forgiving and easygoing soul. She has captured her adoptive mom’s heart and is the centre of her world. 💗
