Had an emergency at the farm and we needed a Veterinarian to fix the problem.
What happens when the people protecting New Brunswick’s farms disappear?
Provincial veterinarians are on the front lines protecting our food supply, responding to disease outbreaks, supporting animal welfare investigations, assisting producers during emergencies, and providing services where private veterinary practices simply aren’t available.
Now the provincial government is phasing out these services, saying the private sector can take over.
But here’s the question no one seems willing to answer:
Who is going to provide those services in New Brunswick where there are already shortages of large-animal veterinarians?
You can’t replace experienced public veterinarians with a promise.
Who will provide timely emergency care, disease surveillance, and laboratory support where private services don’t exist or aren’t financially viable?
When a contagious disease reaches New Brunswick, it won’t matter whether your food comes from a dairy farm, a poultry barn, or a local beef producer. Early detection and rapid response are what prevent devastating losses to farmers, food shortages, and economic damage.
Our farmers are already facing rising costs, labour shortages, and uncertainty. Removing an essential layer of veterinary support doesn’t make farming stronger, it makes it riskier.
This isn’t about politics.
It’s about protecting the people who feed our province.
It’s about ensuring someone answers the phone when there’s a disease outbreak.
It’s about making sure rural producers aren’t left behind because they aren’t profitable enough for private services.
It’s about protecting local food, healthy animals, and the future of agriculture in New Brunswick.
Once these experienced provincial veterinarians leave, their knowledge, relationships, and expertise leave with them. Recruiting and rebuilding that capacity could take years.
New Brunswick deserves a plan that strengthens veterinary services, not one that gambles with our farms, our food security, and our rural communities.
If we truly value local food, we need to value the people who help protect it every single day.
Please share this post. More people need to understand that this decision affects far more than veterinarians, it affects every family that depends on a safe, secure, local food supply.
Please contact those in power to reverse this decision and find a solution that works for everyone.

Imagine having to carry everything you own with you at all times every single day.
Imagine someone struggling with addiction, mental health challenges, or simply a series of circumstances that left them without a place to call home.
Now imagine that person being given a safe place to live. A place where they can focus on healing, recovery, and rebuilding their future.
That’s the kind of change The Humanity Project is working toward every day.
And here’s the amazing part:
If just a portion of Moncton/New Brunswick supported our 50/50 fundraiser with only $2 a week, we could dramatically increase our ability to build housing on our farm and help more people move from survival to stability.
Most people want to make a difference.
Most people want to help.
The good news is that helping doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive.
A community isn’t defined by its problems.
A community is defined by how it responds to them.
For $2 a week, you can be part of a response that creates real change, real housing, and real hope.
One person at a time.
One small contribution at a time.
One stronger community at a time.

Everybody has their own opinions on alcohol and drug addiction, but until you've been there, your opinion means nothing. You don't control addiction, it controls you. There are some lucky ones who have beaten it, but don't think because they're still alive, that life is gravy.
They fight everyday, all day to stay substance free. It's a constant battle from the time they open their eyes until they close them, and it never goes away.
Most are good people who made a bad choice. Battling an addiction is a beast for the person who uses substances and the ones who love them.
So, Be Kind, Always!! ✌️

"For a barefoot man, happiness is a pair of shoes.
For a man who wears old shoes, it is a new pair of shoes.
For a man who has new shoes, it is a more beautiful pair of shoes.
And certainly, the man who has no feet would be happy to walk barefoot.
Measure happiness by what you have, not by what you lack."
