Three homes, one hillside. 🏔️
An updated rendering of the triplex I shared earlier, now under construction. A 1-bedroom suite at the base, two 3-bedroom homes above. The top unit gets cathedral ceilings, and timber accents tie it all together. All units should have pretty great mountain views with the lake views getting better as you go higher.

Things come up after the work begins? I got you! Some structural work in this renovation meant finding a new home for the washer/dryer mid-construction — so I put together these three options and let the builder and homeowner pick their favourite.

An upcoming two-car garage project with an attached storage/workshop area. The single slope roof helps keep construction simple and also accommodates plans for future solar panels, with siding and other finishes reflecting the character of the main house.
This one came together through several rounds working with the owners and their builder, not only fine tuning the garage itself, but also its position and elevation relative to the existing home and the alley access.
It'll be great to see this one break ground soon. Planning a similar project? Send me a message to get started.

A little studio project with a lot going on from a few years back. We just managed to tuck it in between setbacks, parking spots and utilities while also still preserving the views over the top from the main house deck.

Interior rendering for a new laneway house design currently in development. Final materials can always vary, but I think images like this can really help with picturing the final space before it's actually built.

Interior renderings for another upcoming project, nice to provide a bit of inspo in advance of the build and help visualize what the final result could look like.

An upcoming triplex in Nelson, designed in collaboration with a great client and Andrew at Hemlock Homes. Look forward to seeing this one get started!

A few photos from a laneway home that was finished last fall by the talented and capable builders Mark and Thomas Dodsworth. The client, who had been living outside of Nelson, wanted to downsize and be closer to family.
It was based on a modified Pica laneway home design that we continued to fine tune as we went.
The last time I saw it was pre-move in, and earlier this week I had the chance to visit again and see the finished space sans appliance boxes and drywall dust.
It was nice to see that the thoughtful approach the client showed when we worked together had been carried through to each finishing detail!
It can be tough deciding what stays and goes when you’re moving to a smaller space, but what I saw was not only very functional, but curated with a mix of new and old belongings that make it uniquely her home.
