🛝✨PART 2: Welcome to our new accessible playground!

From the trampoline and accessible swing to the musical chimes, Buddy Bench, chill zone, slides and spinners, every feature was thoughtfully chosen to create a safe, inclusive and fun experience for our students. Especially the rubber surfacing (IYKYK)!

But the best part was watching them explore it for the very first time! 💖🩵💛

This playground was years in the making, and it would not have been possible without the generosity of our funders, donors and community partners. Thank you for helping us create a place where every PALS student can play, connect and belong.

☀️We couldn’t be happier!

🛝✨ PART 1: The journey to our new playground

Our old playground was well loved, but it wasn’t accessible or enjoyable for all our students.

After four years of fundraising and thoughtful design, construction finally began this summer. Every decision brought us closer to creating a playground where more PALS students could participate, explore and have fun.

And now…the moment we’ve been waiting for is finally here! 💛🩵💖

Watch Part 2 to see our students explore their new playground for the very first time!

☀️ Most summer camps say “no.” At PALS, we say “YES!”

PALS Autism School offers a specialized six-week Summer Program where students can learn, play, explore, and grow, all while continuing the individualized support, therapies, and learning that help them thrive.

The challenge? PALS receives no Ministry of Education funding during July and August.

🌈 This summer, our Make Summer Shine campaign aims to raise $10,000 to help make this important program as enriching as possible for our students.

And a small gift can make a meaningful difference:

💛 $25 pays for one student’s field trip admission.

Help us make summer shine for PALS students!

⛳❤️ The 55th Annual Marine Drive Golf Club Women’s Charity Invitational was a hole-in-one for PALS, raising an amazing $149,000 for our school and adult programs!

From the first tee to the final bid, the generosity of this community was on full display. We are incredibly grateful to the tournament committee, Marine Drive Golf Club, our sponsors, donors, in-kind partners, volunteers, and every golfer who swung into action to support PALS.

These funds will help create meaningful opportunities for autistic children, youth, and adults through education, therapy, employment, life skills, housing, and community inclusion.

💚 A very special thank you to our Tournament Chair, Sara of Moe’s Home Collection whose inspiring leadership, generosity, and commitment to philanthropy helped make this an unforgettable day and an extraordinary success.💚

Step into a PALS classroom and you'll see understanding, inclusion, and belonging in every activity. We look forward to a day when autism is supported and accepted in all spaces, and that a school like ours isn't considered special, but the standard.

Join us in practicing acceptance, and together we can make that day today!

☀️❄️ Our students learn year-round at PALS Autism School, and their classrooms need to be comfortable, calm, and sensory-friendly in every season. ❄️☀️

But our beautiful heritage school building can get very hot in the summer and quite chilly in the winter. For students with sensory sensitivities, these temperature swings can be quite uncomfortable.

That’s why we’re raising funds to upgrade our heating and cooling systems - and your gift can make twice the impact.

💛 Thanks to the Hao family, every donation made between now and December 31 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.

Your support helps create classrooms that are cozy in the winter, cool in the summer, and comfortable all year long.

Thank you for supporting our students and helping create learning spaces where they can thrive. 💖💛🩵

🌻This Thanksgiving, as you sit down to a comforting meal with loved ones, we'd like to share the story of one remarkable student, Adriana, and acknowledge the impact our supporters have had on her family:

For over eight years, Adriana’s diet was limited to just five foods: dry Chex cereal, cheese pizza, yogurt, toast, and grilled cheese. For her and her family, mealtimes were a daily challenge.

When Adriana joined PALS, our team of therapists and educators began working together through applied behaviour analysis, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to gently help her systematically explore new tastes and textures. Over time, she learned to feel safe trying new things.

One evening this spring, Adriana’s mom sent a message to the school exclaiming, “Look what Adriana is eating tonight!! It’s like a switch turned on and now she’s willing to try new things - it feels like a big weight lifted off my chest.” The message came with a photo of a half-eaten cheeseburger!

Now, at 13 years old, Adriana enjoys everything from stir-fry to calamari, and this Thanksgiving weekend, she’ll be eating her family’s eggplant casserole, a dish her mom loved as a child.

As you gather around your own Thanksgiving table, think about the foods that bring you comfort and joy. For Adriana, each brave new bite is a step toward greater independence, and it’s thanks to supporters like you.

Thank you for being part of our community. Your generosity truly makes a lifelong difference.

Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Thanksgiving! 💛🍂

💜💚 We’re so grateful to the TELUS for awarding a grant to support technology in our Occupational Therapy program at PALS Autism School!

This grant helps us integrate tools like our customized school app called 'PALS In Touch', which keeps families connected to their child’s progress through photos, updates, reports, assessments, forms, and shared milestones.

With TELUS’ support, our students are building independence, confidence, and essential life skills, powered by technology and care. 💚💜
