Every great event looks effortless to the audience. Behind the scenes, it's anything but.

On the next Backstage Insider webinar, I'm sitting down with Melissa Deslauriers, Director of Client Engagement at CCR Solutions, to walk through the full life of an event: from the first truck at load-in to the moment the last case rolls out.

Melissa has spent 30+ years working alongside event planners and production teams. She teaches Event Technology at Conestoga College, sits on the board of The Sustainable Events Forum, and serves on the jury for the Eventex Awards.

We'll cover what separates smooth shows from stressful ones, where planners and production teams lose time and money, and what you can do differently on your next event.

40 minutes of guided discussion, then 20 minutes of live Q&A. Bring your questions.

AESToronto Session: What Comes After Next

In 2025, Michael took the AES Expo stage to argue that the future doesn’t arrive head-on—it arrives sideways, through unplanned recombination. That talk became a book, What Comes After Next?, to be launched in Canada at this event. This talk picks up where the book leaves off, pushing the argument a level deeper—past the question of what’s coming, into the harder one of what we should actually build in preparation and what we should stop building that never belonged there. Expect a working argument for practitioners, not a retrospective.

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026

Time:
7:00pm – Presentation
9:15pm – Wrap up

Where: Eaton Lecture Theatre
Room: RCC-204

Greater clarity, more accurate monitoring, and the confidence that what you’re hearing is coming from the speakers, not the structure around them.

That was the goal at Massey Hall’s Dean Cameron Recording Studio, where precise overhead speaker placement and vibration control were critical to its Dolby Atmos system. Legendary producer and engineer Eddie Kramer recommended IsoAcoustics V120 isolation mounts to help reduce vibration transfer through the ceiling pipes while providing the flexibility to precisely position each speaker.

Learn how Eddie Kramer and Massey Hall COO Doug McKendrick explain why isolation made a “game-changing” difference in clarity.
