Parallel Grain

From rough lumber to a custom kitchen island top! 🪵 Built to last.

A little behind-the-scenes look at the process from start to finish . 🔨

There’s something satisfying about watching a pile of freshly milled hardwood turn into a beautiful, functional piece for someone’s home.

Every board is carefully selected, arranged, glued up, and shaped to bring out the natural character of the wood. No two pieces are ever the same, and that’s what makes working with solid wood so rewarding.

Kitchen Island needed an upgrade.
From MDF to solid maple. 😍

The many variations of freshly milled Black Walnut 🪵

Believe it or not, all of this wood came from the same tree. Each board has its own unique colour, grain and character.

My job is to carefully select and arrange each piece so the natural variations flow together and create a balanced, consistent finished product.

Black Walnut takes some extra time, planning and preparation—but the final result is always worth it.
