Today is marked as Firefighters’ National Memorial Day.

We take a moment to remember all the firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice and have given their lives in the line of duty.

We would like to thank everyone who had attended our Recruitment Open House this past week and shown interest in joining our team!

If you’ve been thinking about becoming a paid-on-call firefighter, there’s still time to apply. Applications are available at the Osoyoos Fire Hall during regular business hours.

As we move into the next stage of recruitment, here are the important dates to mark on your calendars:

Today, members of Osoyoos Fire Rescue take time to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

On this day, we honour the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and countless others who rushed selflessly toward danger to save lives. We remember the firefighters who gave their all.

This year, our members participated in the 9/11 Memorial Climb Challenge. They did 110 stories in our tower at Hall 1. We thank them for their dedication and the personal responsibility they carry to protect our communities.

You’re also invited to the Community Wildfire Resiliency Open House on September 24 from 2:30pm-5:30pm at the Sonora Centre. Drop in to learn more about wildfire resiliency in our community and ask questions of the project team.

Together, we can help protect our homes, neighbourhoods, and community from wildfires.

As families get ready for a new school year, now is a great time to review your home's emergency plan.

Take a few minutes to:
-Review your family's outdoor meeting place.
-Practice your home fire escape plan.
-Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
-Make sure emergency contact information is up to date.
-Teach children how to call 9-1-1 and when it's appropriate to do so.

A little preparation can make all the difference in an emergency. From everyone at Osoyoos Fire Rescue we hope all students have a safe and successful start to the school year!

Today at 3:18pm OFR responded to a motor vehicle incident at Hwy 3 & Hwy 97.

On arrival of the first Truck, Firefighters had 2 vehicles on the highway. Our crews set up traffic control and went into clearing up the scene.

Osoyoos Fire Rescue responded with 2 trucks and 7 firefighters to the emergency call.

Osoyoos Fire Rescue thanks RCMP, BCEHS & Collision Craft crews for their support. Our crews returned back to the station around 4:15pm.
