We are proud to announce that Heather Wolf Ear, the Project and Resource Lead for the ImaGENation Program, placed as first runner up in the Miss Indigenous Canada competition. 🌿

Heather represented her home community of Sisika First Nation. Her advocacy for Indigenous knowledge systems, environmental stewardship, clean energy sovereignty and holistic wellness for Indigenous people was a message that resonated with the judges as well as the viewers of Miss Indigenous Canada.

We are grateful to have her supporting the participants of the ImaGENation program and we are especially grateful that her work supporting Indigenous youth will continue to be grounded in the knowledge she possesses on these important topics. ✨

It’s crucial that we not only listen to their stories and teachings but actively work to protect them. By building strong connections with our Elders, following protocols, and truly honouring what they pass down, we ensure our communities grow in a good way.
 
Their guidance helps us foster meaningful Nation to Nation relationships, water and land connections, and strengthens the very fabric of who we are. Let’s elevate their voices every day, and keep their profound wisdom, knowledge and guidance at the forefront of all we do.

The National Gathering is Indigenous Clean Energy’s major biannual event that brings together Indigenous clean energy leaders, practitioners, and allies. This event offers a unique opportunity to build new partnerships, inform policy, and create pathways to advance more meaningful Indigenous participation in the clean energy transition.

From October 6-8, the National Gathering will welcome more than 500 participants for three days of connection, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, in partnership with the Tsuut'ina Nation.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the wildfires happening across the country, including the devastating fires in Northern Ontario, and especially to the families and community members who had to evacuate their homes, and to the emergency responders working on the front lines.

Many of the impacted areas are home to Indigenous communities, including members of our network, that have long experienced the severe impacts of climate change. These fires remind us of the urgent and growing challenges climate change brings to Indigenous Peoples and their territories.

At Indigenous Clean Energy, we believe the path forward must centre Indigenous stewardship and leadership in climate action, clean energy, and building the resilient, sustainable communities future generations deserve.

Celebrating another ImaGENation project: an EV shuttle initiative by Madison Green 💫

The Teionkwayenawà:kon EV Shuttle Initiative: meaning All of Us People, was created to reconnect Urban Indigenous kin in the Waterloo Region through sustainable, electric transportation that supports ceremony, gathering, and cultural resilience. In the spirit of kinship and care for all relations, the project aims to strengthen community connection while reducing emissions and advancing clean energy solutions for future generations.

Madison has made amazing progress in outreach, community engagement, and research- we are excited to see how her project continues to grow!
