Another great option for a cycle route is from Surfside RV Resort to Coombs. Head straight up Corfield to Despard Avenue, turn right here. Keep riding along Despard until you reach Springwood Park. You will find the trail head in the parking lot near the off leash dog park. It is an easy, mostly flat ride, just 7 kilometers along a 3 metre wide gravel road to Coombs. Enjoy!

This Saturday, September 19th! The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #49, in conjunction with the City of Parksville, will be completing a rolling parade to honour and commemorate the 100th anniversary of Branch #49 and the distinguished service to communities across Canada.

Please note that the Administration Office will be switching to off season hours, effective Sunday, September 20, 2026.

A few highlights along the way that are worth pointing out:

Also, here’s a couple short detours you might enjoy:
- turn right on Doehle ave and follow it to the end for a great view of Parksville beach and the bay. There is a set of stairs there that will take you down to the beach as well. Doehle crosses Temple, so you can turn right on it rather than going back to Pym.

- a right on Digby will take you to Gaetjen st. Watch for a few access points on the right for views of the Salish Sea and Lasqueti Island. Gaetjen turns into Wright eventually and out to the light where you cross the highway.

- when you get to Lee road, if you turn right and follow it across the highway, it goes into French Creek Marina. More great views and a cold bevy at the French Creek Pub.

- if you are into craft breweries, the Fern and Cedar is another great beverage stop. It’s on the left just after you cross the tracks when you come into Qualicum Beach.

Alternative Cycling route to Qualicum from Parksville

Did you know that you can cycle from Parksville to Qualicum along a low-traffic road without having to use the highway? The route is 13.5 km one way and takes approximately 75 minutes at a leisurely pace. Our current weather with the cooler days is perfect for cycling!

Bird enthusiasts will appreciate our location which borders the Englishman River Estuary and wetlands which makes us a great spot for bird watching. Featuring a Great Blue Heron striking a pose on our waterfront.
