North Durham Nature Presents: Little Bird, Big World – Piping Plover Conservation in Ontario.

Join Julie-Ann Prentice as she shares her enthusiasm for a small shorebird, which nests and dwells in Ontario on a few exposed sand and gravel Great Lakes’ beaches.

Piping Plovers returned to Ontario in 2007 after a 30-year absence. In 2026, we celebrated their 20th breeding season in Ontario. Join us to learn how you can help this charismatic shorebird and ensure we celebrate many more successful seasons to come. Registration is not required and all are welcome to attend.

When: Tuesday September 22nd from 7:00 to 8:30pm

Join us on Saturday mornings for family fun and creativity! We’ll have crafts and activities for children of all ages and their caregivers to work on together and Leslie will share some stories and songs.

Drop in anytime between 10:30 am and 12:00 pm for some free family fun! Registration is not required.

When: Saturdays, September 12th, 19th and 26th from 10:30am to 12:00pm

Toddlers (ages 16 months to 3 years) and their caregivers are invited to join us each week for stories, songs and rhymes. No registration required, just drop in!

When: Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 10:00am to 10:45am, starting September 15th

Enjoy a relaxing evening of crafting and socializing at the library. This month we will be using a combination of upcycled items to create one of a kind collages. This could get messy, so participants are encouraged to wear old clothes. No crafting experience required. All supplies will be provided. Ages 18+

Individual registration is not required, but groups of four or more are asked to call 905-985-7686 ext. 1010 or email [email protected] to reserve their table.
