July 2025 Meanderings & Mishaps Pt 39 - Desert Hills, Horsting's & Home.
After 3 weeks of adventures, it was sadly time to go home. We needed to re-stock and for sure do laundry đŸ˜„ After leaving Barnes Lk rec site, we made our first ever stop at Desert Hills Ranch for produce. We now make a point to stop there whenever we are in the area.

July 2025 Meanderings & Mishaps Pt 38 - Slow Trip Home.
We were slowly making our way home and with time available, we spent a couple nights at our go-to place - Barnes Lk rec site near Ashcroft, BC. LOL! Mostly we go there so I can gather sage, and also because I am never in a rush to get home from a camping trip! It is also handy for us to make stops at Desert Hills Farm in Ashcroft and Horsting's Farm Market in Cache Creek. After leaving Lumby, BC, our first stop was at Kamloops Lk rest area as it has a special significance for me (co-pilot).

July 2025 Meanderings & Mishaps Pt 37 - Lumby Lions Campground.
We left Jolly Creek rec site at 10 am and were set up in Lumby by 2:30. The campground has 21 close together sites (6 suitable for 40' units, 12 for 30' and 3 for 20'). Sani station (by donation) and washroom/shower building is just outside the entrance to the campground. Bessette Creek runs behind the first row of sites, walking trails and municipal pool are within walking distance, as is the Blue Ox Pub (good food there). When we were there, fee was $40/day for water and 30 amp power, but has since gone up to $43/day. NOTE: Lumby water is not pleasant to drink without a decent water filter.

July 2025 Meanderings and Mishaps Pt 36 - Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Center.
This place has been on co-pilot's "wanna see" list for a long time. We left camp mid morning and headed into Osoyoos to check it out and...lol, it was 32C and it wasn't even noon yet (Ya, I was loving the heat; Tom, not so much!). Admission for 1 adult and 1 senior was $38. There were some indoor displays and 2 outdoor walking trails - 1 short and 1 longer. We chose the longer 2km Loop Trail to see all there was, and there was a lot to see! Most sites along the trail had identifying info signs and offered culturally relevent information. If you're ever in the area, this place is well worth exploring!

July 2025 Meanderings and Mishaps Pt 35 - Osoyoos Sights.
LOL! Barely into town and Tom pulls into the first winery he saw...Moon Cursor Vineyards (that stop was more for me than him). It was a busy day - pics of various in town sights, Spotted Lake, Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Center (next week's post) and a quick stop at SaveOn. HOLY COW was it ever expensive in there...$12 for what was about 1 cup of cooked, shredded chicken! This was our first visit to Osoyoos and although it was a nice place to visit, I quickly learned we could never afford to live there.

Was not expecting any charging to be happening today. This was a pleasant surprise.
Days like this I want a sail boat.
