We love a great movie adapted from a book, but seeing that story come to life on stage? Even better!

Central Alberta Theatre is bringing one of Agatha Christie’s most iconic mysteries to the live stage with 'And Then There Were None.' Catch this thrilling production October 16-31 (but don’t wait – tickets won’t last!).

Red Deer Public Library is proud to participate in Alberta Public Libraries Day of Action by joining libraries across the province in screening 'The Librarians,' an Emmy Award-winning documentary exploring censorship, book banning, and the importance of protecting your freedom to read.

On October 1, join us for one of two screenings of ‘The Librarians,’ which is not yet available on streaming services. Each screening will be followed by a live-streamed panel discussion featuring special guests (to be announced).

With new provincial legislation and regulations placing restrictions on access to some library materials, this is an especially meaningful time to come together as libraries and communities to reflect on why intellectual freedom matters. Screening 'The Librarians' is an opportunity to learn, engage in conversation, and reaffirm the vital role public libraries play in providing equitable access to information.

About the film: As an unprecedented wave of book banning is sparked in Texas, Florida, and beyond, librarians under siege join forces as unlikely defenders fighting for intellectual freedom on the front lines of democracy. 'The Librarians' is recommended for viewers 14+ due to strong language and mature subject matter.

Register at rdpl.org/events by 12 p.m. on September 29 for a chance to win VIP seating and a Freedom to Read prize pack!

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Red Deer Public Library.
