CARE Community Update!

Yesterday, CARE launched its cat food support program at the Renfrew and District Food Bank, offering both kibble and canned food to community members who need help feeding their cats. It was a busy day, and Food Bank staff confirmed that this support is greatly needed by their clients. We are pleased to share that CARE will be there every Tuesday going forward. A heartfelt thank-you to Chanto Ly and Linda Gervais for helping make this program possible.
Our affordable spay/neuter clinic reached capacity in less than a week—a strong sign of how important accessible veterinary care is in our community. The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Renfrew County Animal Centre will hold another clinic in November, the final clinic of the year. Pet surrenders driven by financial pressures are a growing concern across Canada. Rising veterinary costs, unaffordable rent, and limited pet-friendly housing are forcing many owners to give up their animals. Stronger advocacy and community support are essential to help families keep their pets stay at home and reduce preventable surrenders.
This clearly shows the need for animal rescues to offer affordable spay/neuter and rabies clinics in communities, as well as pet food support through local food banks.

CARE Animal Rescue is committed to helping pet owners provide essential care for their beloved pets.

International Cat Day in 2026 is on Saturday, 8 August 2026. This annual celebration highlights cat welfare, adoption, and appreciation for feline companions, with global campaigns and events planned for the day. 😸

CARE is excited to share our new information flyer with our followers. It explains our mission and the work we do to support pet owners in our community and surrounding areas. Our goal is to have affordable spay/neuter services, outreach, and support programs more accessible to the families and animals who need them.

We also welcome new volunteers who can help with fundraising, events, and community outreach.
